Not often being dead is lucky eh? I did consider having her alive when I first started the story, but figured once this secret was revealed, there'd be Malfoys & Harry in Azkaban for cursing the woman.

Eek. I missed an entire chapter of review responses! I always felt that while ones like Lucius and Severus did choose the Mark, the children of Draco's generation had so very little choice between the Mark or dying. So that ugly thing had to go so Draco could truly move beyond his desperate choices as a teen.

What a smashing chapter. I loved the theory about who got Hogwarths letters and who don't, that was a outstanding piece of plotting. I also loved the idea of Harry getting pink birthday cakes for the rest of his life, that was truly sweet. A excellent update, I loved it.

I'm glad you liked the theory behind the letters. It was one of the parts of the story that I tinkered with a lot, trying to figure out how to deal with the too-small population of canon-Hogwarts versus how many wizards there ought to be for them not to be inbred beyond salvage.

That's high praise considering the quality of some of the pieces here, so thank you. The story is complete (all 15 chapters + one epilogue chapter) and has a "snapshot" style sequel series begun as well. I'm trying to keep 2 chapters in the queue at all times, so hopefully not a long wait for Chapter 8.

Why, do you see foreshadowing of their friendship going certain places now that it's known Harry's gay? lol It was actually really hard to hold off that long before confirming it, believe it or not. Obviously folks figured it out but I wanted to have the story itself not confirm it right away.

I didn't expect that about Harry, although I've wondered if something would happen beween him and Draco. I can't wait to read the rest of your story so it's great you're updating rather quickly.

When I first began outlining the story, I wanted at least one of the guys to be openly gay. It seemed more fitting for Harry to explore his sexuality especially if he left England and all the Chosen One expectations behind him. Glad you liked it. :)

So I made it happen here. I always figured Severus as a family man would lose a lot of the antagonism toward everyone (and technically, he ended up Remus' father-in-law! lol)

I'm glad you liked it and that it provoked the proper emotions. It was the hardest chapter to write of the story because it was hard to imagine Harry's devestation.
An interesting start, but how did Harry wind up in the US anyway? Can't wait for the next chapter to find out. ^_^

I'm not sure it is made really clear in the story (there are about 11 chapters completed) but there are references in a future chapter that give indications of why he left England, although how he landed in the US isn't detailed. Sometimes I think things are clear only to find out from a reader they weren't!
