Reviews for Equivalent Exchange
Love the dimension and depth concisely evoked regarding Rowena and Salazar, captured in this fascinating scenario--shows Slytherin's decisions and determination to do what he feels need to be done as acts of defence against the Viking invaders and conquerers--along with the poetical prose, it is an intense slice in the day of the life of these rarely written about foundation characters--lovely, lovely work!

Thanks for an insightful review of a Salazar tale. His determination to do what he thought was right may have been the cause of the split, if there really was a split.
Neat story about the founders. it's always nice to see someone portray Salazar as possessing some humanity since I figure he wouldn't have been part of the founding of the school without it - even though he did leave later.

Yes, there's Salazar, caught between loyalty to Rowena, his duty, and his obligations to Raven. He's not going to fulfill them all.

Rowena is quite the temptress, to get Salazar to do her biding, and I'm sure she will forgive him.

Thanks. I think there is much more to the Founders than is presented to school children. Forgiveness may take a while. He will have to convince her that he gave up his most precious possessions for a good cause. She will rely that it was a second-rate raid and that he could have given up his second-rate possessions.

I never really think about comparative muggle/wizard history, so the thought of them holding back the Vikings is fascinating.

MY history is weak, but I think that by 1000AD, the British Isles had been under constant invasion for several hundred years with the invaders destroying the original cultures. Hogwarts was a defensive position, and if official wizard history is as inaccurate as official mundane history, Salazar could be the true hero who has been incorrectly portrayed.

Sounds like Rowena's temper is formidable. :)

He will have to explain that he gave up what was of most value to him. Rowena will want to know why it wasn't his gold ring and that pesky raven.
That will teach the Vikings not to be sensible! The images you use here are quite lovely.

It's a case of audacity not working. The imagery is an attempt at poetic instead of an attempt at zen no-style.
Interesting. Explains a lot about the shipwrecks on the shores of Northern Scotland. ^_^

Thanks. It's the classic being caught between the wind and the shore.
