The ruins of Hogwarts were bathed in the scant light of a crescent moon. And gliding through the darkness below was the imprint of a lost hero. The spirit flexed its growing permanence, feeling the unnerving sensation of swallowing boulders with its newfound form. It, or rather he—he had been a ‘he’ at one point—moved through the dewy, body-strewn grass tense with the memory of the extraordinary choice he’d been given.

glad to read there will be something good. I wonder why Severus can feel Hermiones pain, a hint he is not a "normal" ghost? well we will see, I probably misunderstood something, LOL

The fun part about the insomnia is that I'm usually writing this late at night, so most of what she feels in that regard is just narration of however I am at the moment. It's also a (lazy) tool to get her to drop her guard around Snape
This is really quite lovely. Hermione's wan appearance is beautifully drawn, and Severus's growing concern for and fascination with her is very nicely insinuated. (He hasn't thought about Lily for a while, has he?) If this is going to be a romance between them, and I presume it is, it seems likely to be a tragic one, given the finite nature of his trial period. But even though I don't like sad stories, usually, I will be following this one. Thanks for the update.

You have peaked my interest. What kind of relationship can you have with a ghost? I have a feeing that we will find out in future chapters. :-)

I love how you've described the sensation of being a ghost, like a floating ball of emotions without any physical sensations to focus on. I look forward to reading more, especially finding out why Snape was offered this ten year opportunity.

Thank you!! I hope you like the next chapter too! It's a long one for me. Normally I hover around 1,000 words per chpter but this one is over 2,000
