A new Dark Lord is rising. Deputy Headmaster (and Undercover Auror) Severus Snape needs an entree to Draco Malfoy's engagement party in order to gather evidence, and because the Malfoys are dotting every i and crossing every t so as not to be thought out of line after the war, the only way Severus can bring a date is to be engaged or married. Cue Hermione Granger, his colleague at Hogwarts, for whom he has developed tender feelings, but whom he can't simply talk to about his feelings.

I LOVE to read, I LOVE to write, and am thrilled to be published here on The Petulant Poetess. I love the Harry Potter books because of my kids, and hope to get good enough to become an accredited beta reader at some point:)

I read this on the sshg exchange LJ community, although I don't think I left a review there. I'm thrilled that you're reposting it here; it's an excellent tale!

I'm enjoying your blending of magical traditions - the more contemporary melding nicely with the Old Ways.

Interesting beginning. I wonder if there really is a threat of a new Dark Lord, or if this is just an excuse for Severus to snag Hermione?I also like this happier Severus. He would never have kissed her in front of everyone in the old days.

There really is a threat; although you won't see a lot of it as the story only has two chapters, but yes, it's genuine. The kiss in front of the students was one of those "Oh, my gosh, I HAVE TO write it that way' moments. I somehow flashed on the memory of Prince Charles kissing Princess Diana on the balcony of Buckingham Palace when the fans and well-wishers started cheering for them after their wedding, and the scene practically wrote itself:) It's one of my favorite moments in the story:)Thank you so much for your comments; they mean a lot to me:)Warm regards,Fizzabella
