Severus sacrificed a great many things ensuring that the Dark Lord fell, most notably his young wife, Hermione. It was to his great surprise that he should find her in a bookshop one day, years later, with no memories whatsoever of him... or their daughter. In search of her past, and perhaps her humanity, can the disaffected Gretchen trust this dark, mysterious man?

It's so good to see she has some sort of connectin with her daughter. Maybe all hope is not lost.

Right! And Rori is a very cunning little girl... Gretchen has a lot going for her.
This is a really well thought story. Well written, captivating.

This chapter really intrigued me. Again, as soon as "Hermione" starts to emerge... ZAP!! It's so weird! But at least Gretchen's not pushing Rori away. That mothering instinct hasn't dissipated in the least.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Yes! What really matters is Gretchen and Rori, and that is going very well I think. Thanks for reading/reviewing!
This is excellent. Please notify me when you update.

Thanks! More soon!
I really hope she'll recover her memories and get the life she deserves.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Thanks! Severus hopes so, too, and he's definitely ready for the task.
I cried right along with Rori. It must be so hard for her. She just wants her mom back. And to have her so close and yet not there at all must be so humongously stressful for such a little one. She's trying to be strong and sensible, but it's so much for a child to bear. And I think Albus is leading Severus on the right path on how to go about knocking down the wall entirely and getting Hermione back. Of course, Severus is walking a fine line though, because it's his wife and he's used to being in charge, and of course he's trying to do things his way while he can. I just hope he doesn't end up sabotaging things by wanting her physically too much.

Aw! I'm touched to hear you feel such emotion right along with my story! Thanks for reviewing. I can't wait to see what you think of what is in store. More should be appearing for you very shortly!
Fascinating plan. I love how Ron drew her out without her knowing it.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Thanks! Ron, for all his... Ron-ness... has some important things to contribute in Hermione's life, I think.
Wow! This is an amazing twist on a familiar plotline. I love the direction you're taking this story! Your writing is excellent, your characterizations very insightful, and your development and pace are marvellous! I can't wait to read more. Thanks for sharing the story with us.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Thanks so much! I admit, I got to a point where I wondered, 'Why are we always fixing Severus?' and I couldn't help but turn the tables. I'm glad you're enjoying this so much!
I cannot shake the feeling that Dumbledore knows something, and I do believe Harry, Luna, Ron, Ginny, Severus, Rori AND HERMIONE (and quite frankly, probably McGonagall and Neville) are going to Let. Him. Have. It.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
I know! Dumbledore always knows something (whether you want him to or not)! :-)
This is a fantastic story so far. I'm really enjoying it and very anxious to read more.

Thanks! More is in the queue now! Can't wait to see what you think!
Excellent chapter! I'm glad that the prompting is working, I would love to see the family reunited and functioning as a unit as soon as creatively possible (which probably won't do very well in your plot, so just ignore me, lol!). Great dialogue and visuals!!! :D
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Rori is coming soon enough, but that functionality requirement might take a little longer... ;-D Can't wait to see what you think!
I'm so glad you've had a chance to update this! My heart is still breaking for Severus, but it looks as though Gretchen may have had a breakthrough - thanks to Ron - but she doesn't seem to realize it? Which makes me wonder if there isn't some sort of compulsion (is that the right term for it?) on her present memory - like, she's doing things on autopilot and not even realize she's doing them AS she's doing them? It's really odd, that scene.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Well, Severus has spent the interim time trying to get as prepared for all eventualities as he can. Knowing is half the battle, right? :-D More unfolding to come...
so good. i really like your story, please keep it coming

Thanks so much! I have more in the queue now!
Seems like apathy has really sunk in. Hopefully she'll be curious, just to see what happens.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Yes! The monotony of Muggledom! Luckily, I don't think it will last forever...
I was wondering if Hermione had her magic still, and it seems she does even without her wand. I am impressed at Severus' restraint. I would have thought he would drag her to Mungos and get her fixed up ASAP! I hope Gretchen decides to use the portkey sooner than later.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Dashing away with her is quite tempting, but that's not exactly Severus's style... Gretchen is, afterall, quite the unknown element at this point.
I like the idea of Voldy's body being cut up into tiny peices never to return again.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Yes! Too bad he's dead already!
ooooohhh. intriguing
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
:-DThanks!
Wow what a tale so far! Can't wait to read more
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Thanks! Glad you're into it!
Oh I hope she wants to know soon! I don't know how Severus can be so patient. I'd be tempted to grab her and tell her everything at once - which would probably blow her mind for good. Really enjoying this story. Thanks.
Response from sapphire_phoenix (Author of Vitae Explicare Memento)
Severus, unlike you or I, is a man of patience and resolve. Good thing too. ;-)More up soon!
Very interesting premise. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. :)
