Lady Dragonsinger

So much development of characters, emotion and growth in such a short narration.  So beautiful.  Thank you.

This was very moving, particularly Narcissa's fear at the beginning.  And I really loved the way you show how Lucius's love makes her strong, strong enough to save Harry Potter and to give her son the love and confidence to make a good marriage of his own.

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you so much! This coming from the author of one of my all-time favourite stories in the SSHG realm means a lot to me.

It's lovely to see the Malfoys portayed as a loving, supportive couple, despite Narcissa's damaged childhood.

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you! I think the Malfoys just don't get enough canon attention...

An incredibly difficult subject, skillfully handled. I enjoyed seeing the evolution of their relationship, especially her thoughts when he was sent away. Well done!

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

That was a very powerful story.  Those Blacks are all pretty disturbed, aren't they?

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you very much! Yes, I think the Blacks are more disturbed than the Malfoys...

Lovely, poignant work!

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you so much!

The unfolding and background story referred to of each Black sister and the effect on their lives - Bella broken/in madness, Adromeda's flight & new life, and Cissy's struggle is so profoundy wonderful/effective; Narcissa's evolvement & healing within her intimate relations with Lucius is so lovingly done; absolutely agree, whatever else Lucius was dong as a DE, it's even more powerfully contrasted with his intimate care & ability to 'love' & help her heal and for Cissy's strength to be nourished & flourish and withstand the other events in their lives; her love for Draco & desire for is happiness, regardless & superceding the blood question - again, wonderful!

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thanks again. Your words suggest that I hit the nail here... Once I got over being intrigued with Snape after first reading the books, I started to wonder about the Malfoys and concluded that they are a loving family, even if Harry doesn't see that (no wonder either; the poor child had never knowingly experienced love himself, and besides, he was young then). I was glad when my hunch was confirmed in the final book. :D

Absolutely lovely, K. :)  Powerfully written and highly effective.  You've done good work with this, and it's always good to see you writing again.

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you very much, Penn. This means a lot to me.It's always funny how it is with the writing... Months go by and I think I'll never write again, and then suddenly, out of the blue, comes a story that needs to be written. :)

You have packed a lifetime in such a few words.  Lucius is so gentle with Narcissa making certain that she can be comfortable at each step along the way.  It's clear how much he loves her, and how he is willing to do whatever it takes to help her feel whole again.  Well done!Beth

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you so much, Beth! I always think why wouldn't they love each other just because their upbringing was that of racists...

Aurette

Beautiful.  You humanized these two in such a powerful way, leaving them who they are, proud, superior, and haughty, and yet, strong,  deeply caring, and capable of so much together.

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

~blushes~Thank you for your kind words. And thank you for reading the original version. It wouldn't be what it is without your invaluable help!*bows deeply*

Wow, this is beautiful.  I love that we are seeing the behind the scenes side of them when at this same time period, what we know from canon paints them in a very bad light.  Narcissa is in a delicate postion on her wedding night, being expected to do something that has such a painful connotation.  But Lucius is perfect in his handling of her, and that makes all of the difference.  This is simply fabulous, Karelia.

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you for your kind words. I guess the problem with canon is that we are everyshown through the Harry filter so there isn't much about the Malfoys. Personally, I find them intriguing enough to wonder what their lives are like. :)

Rose of the West

Wow, you tell a lot of story with a few words, here! I love the way Lucius is shown here, ever the loving husband, and devoted to his wife and her needs.  The way she slowly works at developing that same devotion is beautifully shown.

Response from karelia (Author of The Power of Love)

Thank you very much, Rose. I think the Malfoys are woefully underpresented in canon. :P
