This is excellent!  So inventive and atmospheric.  Old Teddy is very believable; the ending is poignant without being too sentimental.

Whoa - you moved me to real, dripping tears.  That was just lovely.  You evoked some powerful emotions in this short, sweet piece.

The story of Teddy mirrors Harry's in canon. They were both war infants, yet their childhoods differed. The story here, showing how Teddy built a home for his family clan, is beautifully tender. I love that the older children don't believe the tale and I love that every word of it was true.

I made the mistake of reading this on the bus home and had to suffer through the embarrassment of blinking back tears on public transport. Incredibly moving!

I'm usually a bit nervous with 'Character Death' pieces, but this is about as wonderfully fulfilling and moving as I could hope death to be. I love the use of similes here, and the reclaiming of the Shrieking Shack for something better.
