A witch is born. She's surprisingly opinionated for a baby. A very short story in which a witch is born and demonstrates a peculiar proclivity for getting her way

I'm a middle-aged, professional writer of non-fiction and would-be professional writer of fiction who also writes Harry Potter fanfiction just for fun.
I’m a proud member of the Harry Potter Old Lady Smut Brigade, which means I’m most interested in the older female characters in the Harry Potter saga, particularly Minerva McGonagall.
If I had received my Hogwarts letter back in nineteen-mumble-mumble, I would most likely have been sorted into Ravenclaw, or so everyone tells me, probably because I’m a geeky data-freak (my Real Life™ requires me to read piles of medical journal articles.) I, however, think I’d feel right at home in Hufflepuff too, so I consider myself a Ravenpuff.
The fics I write may contain adult themes, and I will always warn for non-con, graphic violence, bestiality, incest, or underage sex. I don't warn for homosexual relationships or sex, or for threesomes/moresomes, unless they contain one of the aforementioned elements.

I maintain a master list of (mostly Minerva-centric) recs at Diigo.

Such lovely fluff.Where did the lullabye come from - Burns, or another Scotch poet?? Please write a cameo to us all , in which Minerva and Severus begin their friendship, and delight in each other's dry sense of humor.

Sorry to be so late in responding!Yes, it's Burns, and there's a beautiful song based on it.I've written quite a bit of Minerva/Severus, but I haven't really covered it in that way. Something to think about!
No wonder she turned out so well. She had wonderful parents. I loved that she was clearly a powerful witch right from the start. It seems weird to say that you wrote her in character since she is only a day old, but she seems to have the correct personality already.

Thanks. I did want to give baby!Minerva a tiny hint of the formidable witch she would turn out to be. Glad it came through.
What a sweet little birthday tale! Minerva certainly knew great love even from the cradle.

Thanks. It was fun to write baby!Minerva.
A fine, jouncy wee bairn, who'll grow into a gallus besom.
Minerva is soooo cute. Now there's the sentence I never thought I'd write. Of course Minerva's parents are Morrigan and Thorfinn, no question about that.
Response from Squibstress (Author of Bonnie Wee Thing)
Yes, one doesn't often think "cute" and "Minerva McGonagall" in the same sentence, does one?
She'll be a very powerful witch indeed:). Thanks for sharing Minerva's birthday present. It was delightful.

Thanks. It was fun to imagine baby!Minerva.
Awwwwww. Baby Minerva is cute :) Well done, excellent fluff :)

Thanks.I enjoyed imagining Professor McGonagall as a wee baby. I would advise students to do the same when she's fixing them with the patented McGonagall glare. ;-)
about the birth of a grand witch.
so lovingly told.
Twirls her daddy around her little finger like nothing.
And shows her magic after being only fife minutes on the earth.
This warm warm welcome. nice scenery.
Thanks for sharing.
