Reviews for Keep Calm and Carry On
Lovely to see Her Majesty included in the "other" part of her realm! Loved this - thanks for a great read!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
If the Prime Minister gets to be involved, I think it's only right that Elizabeth gets let in on this little secret! Thanks so much for a lovely review. (It was rather fun to imagine what could have been!)
As an ardent Royalist I loved this.Just one tiny point though: 'We are not amused' was a Queen Victoria 'catchphrase'.Thanks so much for writing this.
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Oh, drat, you're right! I started with a list of classics from Victoria, Elizabeth II, and Prince Philip. (Really, the Duke of Edinburgh has said some amazing things over the years. Just incredible things, many of which I'm sure you know. They do get fairly good press.) After all the cuts, I thought I had left it with only things from Bess, but you're absolutely right! I'll rearrange the A/N when they allow me to do so on Sunday night. Thanks so much! I do love the image of her on Kingsley's arm, staring down Fudge within an inch of his life.

So glad you admire Prince Philip. I consider him to be one of our true national treasures. There's nothing like a snigger behind one's hand when someone has the balls to say what we all really think, however politically incorrect it might be.I can't wait until I'm ninety and can get away with it.
The British queen besting a wizard in a world of political power-play. How genuinely refreshing!

She managed to give radio broadcasts as an awkward teenager during WWII! She can surely handle one measly wizard! Thanks so much.
Fudge, foiled again! *Snerk*
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Someone's got to do it! If it's not Dumbledore, and it's not Harry... why not the Queen of England?
I have always wondered how 'Queenie' would re-act to the wizarding world.
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Watching the Prime Minister's introduction to the wizarding world was so entertaining - I do wonder what Elizabeth's first reaction to Kingsley would be!
The real question: does the queen get the third portrait of the little ugly man to match those of the Muggle and wizarding ministers? (I love her pink hat!)
Response from ofankoma (Reviewer)
I hope so! This also gives Elizabeth and the PM something else to chitchat about at all those official functions they attend, don't you think?
Well, of course she wouldn't stand for any nonsense! When you consider the Prime Ministers she's had to put up with, I doubt Fudge would be anything she couldn't handle - nice take on the prompt!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
*GRINS WILDLY* That's right! If you can handle everyone from Winston Churchill to the Iron Lady, you can handle Cornelius Fudge.
The Queen an abominable horsewoman! Never! And it's a good photo. I really liked the' royally' aspect... it was an excellent touch. Who knows... maybe the Queen does know about the Wizarding World? After all, she has a 'hat' passed down to her which has sat upon many heads throughout the centuries at a 'Sorting' ceremony of sorts--does that crown share any secrets?
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
I know! Poor Elizabeth has been trying to secure a victory at the English Derby for decades now, and her horse has placed as high as second, but no victory there yet. The two nods to the prompt are really the Queen and Kingsley (Potterwatch code name: Royal).I think you're on to something with the royal ceremonial standards... who's to say what secrets they hold?
The Queen Mother? Hahaha - thank you!!! Love it! '...found the crook of Kingsley’s arm in a warm gesture of familiarity' - with all due respect, Your Highness, love it that she and Kingsley are old acquaintances - brilliant!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Thank you so much! Yes, there's something about the Queen and Kingsley together that makes me very, very happy. Besides, we know that he's been working with the Prime Minister for quite some time, so perhaps he's known her for many years...
That was a fun read.
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Thanks! It was a fun write. Our admins have come up with some fantastic prompts, haven't they?
Oh ho ho. We are not amused, indeed. Woot!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
She takes no prisoners, that one. ;)
Good take on the prompt! :)
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Thanks very much! I tried to work "royally" in there twice: KINGsley and the QUEEN. This week's was a fabulous prompt for all of us!
Oh, that's funny! Poor Fudge, but he causes his own misfortunes.
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
He really does, doesn't he? A politician's curse, the life spent vying for the approval of others. Perhaps he and Elizabeth can play nice and make up, and she can take him along to her milliner's shop for a better bowler!
That's cool! I have to hand it to Liz, she's outliving them all!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
It's true, she's been there through Churchill! Actually, the bit about her birth year and Tom's is also (roughly) true - they're the same age.
I should hope Fudge wouldn't be Obliviating her maj ;-)
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Oh, not a chance! Especially not now, knowing that Kingsley's on to him...
Why, this is positively delicious! The Queen of England?! Love it! And the line about the hat had me rolling in the aisles. ~snrt~ I quite like the idea of Kingsley winning over Her Majesty. Well done!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Thanks so much! An excellent hat is truly an underappreciated thing. I do so enjoy the idea of the Queen on Kingsley's arm, standing up to Fudge to defend her own. Her corgis made it into the first draft, but were cut for length.
Oh, good heavens! It's Bess!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
If the prime minister gets to know, shouldn't the queen?
Great idea. Very original.
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Thank you very much!
What an original idea! Fudge doesn't stand a chance with her :)
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Pffft! Not after Churchill and Thatcher! Nope, not a chance!
Brilliant take on the prompt. Such an original idea, skilfully executed. Bravo!
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Thanks very much! Since reading about the Prime Minister encounter in HBP (and waffling as I went back and forth picturing John Major and Tony Blair), I've wondered what the Queen knew... this seemed like as good a time as any to scribble it down!
Hee hee You tell 'im Your Majesty! :)
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
After Churchill and the Iron Lady, Fudge should be no problem for the Queen!
Very cute take.
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
Thank you! (Her corgis were in the first draft, but they were left on the cutting room floor - now that was cute.)
Fudge is no match for Her Majesty , she can hold her own in any situation. Wonderfully done.
Very cleverly done, and a great interpretation of the prompt! I loved it :)
Quite right, the Queen is used to her challenging family members and has handled an assortment of illustrous Prime Ministers--why would she fear an ex-Minister of Magic? He wanted to impress the Muggle-borns and Halfbloods with such tripe? Figures perfectly for Fudge! Some years back, a spokesman of the court was quoted by the German press saying that the Queen was "not amused" (about some comment from Germany). So it is possibly anyhow her statement.
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
I know! If she can handle everyone from Churchill to the Iron Lady, Fudge doesn't stand a chance! Oh, Cornelius, always a politician, even when he's not a successful one.I didn't know that 'We are not amused' could also be Elizabeth's. Maybe it's become a royal thing to say. Thanks for letting me know,
Response from ofankoma (Author of Keep Calm and Carry On)
, and thanks for reviewing.
