We are two sisters who decided to join forces for the "Last Drabble Writer Standing" challenge on TPP.
Herbologist (also archived under this penname at TPP, FF.net and SH) likes Severus Snape in various romantic pairings, including SS/OC and SS/HG.
ZairaAlbereo likes Sirius Black, Remus Lupin (including slash) and is the author of some much celebrated fics on FF.net with a Sirius / Harry godfather theme.
As such we are possibly the most unlikely co-writers. However we do share a passion for well-written fiction and enjoy a challenge.
Reviews for A Dark Omen
It is almost painful to read this when we know what is coming, but Severus probably only has an inkling of what is to come. Poor guy. Nice integration of prompt and canon.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Yes, he only has an inkling, though he knows it is not going to be good and he's prepared to give everything. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Nice. I love stories that fill in bits and pieces of canon.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thanks for your review, glad you like the 'missing scene'.
Nicely done and canon-compliant, too. My heart breaks for Severus.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thanks for your review! It is really hopeless for him, isn't it!
Mmm- love this! Brilliant use of canon - so fitting! Love the presence being inside of Quirrels turban - the beginning of PS, captering the mood and setting the tone!
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
So glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for your lovely review!
The very beginnings of Voldemort's second rise are always interesting to read. It's too bad that Rowling didn't write any prequels. I have a feeling this would have been very close to something she would have penned.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
It's fun to fill in the gaps. I suppose JKR couldn't write this as she would have given too much away... Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I love that the Dark mark reacts to Quirrell.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Well, not so much to Quirrell, but the "unseen presence" under his turban! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
And so it was. Nice look into what happened before.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thanks for reading and reviewing!
There must have been a reason why Severus was hyperaware of Quirrel, and here it is. A great introduction of the relationships we saw in canon.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Yes, though he thinks it's for a different reason! Thanks for reviewing!
Ooh, that's good! The Dark Mark tingling as Quirrell walks by - fantastic. Love the threads of canon you've woven together here.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thanks so much for your review! It's always fun to "fill in the gaps".
Nice little scene that could have been canon. Poor Severus, knowing what's to come.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thanks for your review and glad you liked it! He knows he might have to sacrifice *everything* in order to fulfil his promise.
Very nice take on Harry's first trip to Diagon Alley. I like that, just as in canon, we don't know if it is Harry or Quirrel the Marks are reacting to.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
The possibility that it might be Harry had not even occured to me! But of course it could be, with Harry being a Horcrux. We know he is shopping with Harry just around teh corner. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
This is very good. Great job.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thank you! :-)
That's quite clever. I never thought about whether he would have that effect on the others.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Canon does mention that it becomes clearer as Voldemort's return approaches, so it seemed likely that they would be able to feel something when Voldemort is close-by for the first time in many years. THanks for the read and review!
Ohhh... Very good take on the prompt!
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thanks for the read and review. Glad you liked the interpretation of the prompt.
Oh, that's a fascinating choice... I was wondering what writers would select for their unknown presence, and this never crossed my mind. How ominous...
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
I thought the same reading many of the other stories! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Uh oh, lots of foreboding there. :0
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Thanks for your review!
So sad.
Response from unlikely_sisters (Author of A Dark Omen)
Yes. They are both trapped really. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
