Oh, this was so poignant! I was very worried that it was going to be one that would make me cry, but all's well that end's well, and I was quite glad for the happy ending, even thoughI usually favor tragedies. This one had such grace, it did not need angst to lend it beauty. You are really coming into your own as a writer!

Thanks very much for your review. Keppie. Your opinion is much appreciated. As for the happy ending, I wrote this at a time when I really didn't need any more tragedies.
Yes indeed Quaffie....those blond boys. Sting......Daniel Craig.....Alan Rickman....hell......Robert Redford and David McCallum. Sometimes too good-looking for their own good. This was a lovely story and very redemptive in the end. Well done. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxx.

David McCallum, the Scot who played the Russian in The Man from UNCLE. I used to think he was gorgeous.
That was lovely. It's nice to see the Malfoys as human beings.

Thanks for your review.
It's a beautiful story. I love the way his parents gently adjust from what they want for him to wanting what's best for him.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
This is truly beautiful on so many levels.I love Draco's point of view here, especially in the incident with Harry and I love that Draco's parents accept him as he is. I'm glad he found happiness in the end.

It's nice to portray Drcao as more than an arrogant prat.
How wonderful - to see it all from Draco's perspective. It's an amazing piece. Beautiful by Marillion fits so well. His solitude was difficult and sad to read. I'm glad it ended with hope, love and friendship. Thank you for sharing this. AV

It's nice to look at Draco as a real person and not just an arrogant git. I'm glad you enjoyed this.
I'm glad he found what he wanted at the end there.

Thanks for your review.
This was just wonderful. You have shown us a side of the Malfoys, especially Draco, that we don't often see. As with most characters, in canon we see them through Harry's eyes. Here we get the motivations behind things said and done. It makes perfect sense to me the Draco was sincerely extending his hand to Harry in friendship, but because of his upbringing, he went about it all wrong. And he doesn't want to be frineds with Crabbe and Goyle? Well, who would. But if you are picked on and your defense is to become a bully, you do want some thugs on your side to do the dirty work. I love how even as small children, Goyle is not playing nicely with his peers. You've done a fantastic job here. I hope to see more from you soon.

I always felt Draco's arrogance was more to do with his upbringing and his attempts to cover his underlying feelings.I am writing a bit more, but it isn't flowing very easily at the moment. Thanks for your support.
Wow - like the title, beautiful! We must be on the same length about certain aspects of the Malfoy's story - I've a chapter siting in queue that touches some of their back story !! The cosmic energy that sweeps writers along, I suppose. I especially like your reference to Harry's rejection of Draco at the start of first year...

I have to confess to not reading much recently. I'll keep an eye out for your story.
liked this a lot.I have always wondered why the Malfoys only had one child, because it would have been great for there to have been a sister for Draco in the books,I bet she would have been a right madam!
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of Beautiful)
I'm sure a Malfoy girl would have been a real handful.
I'm especially admiring how you make us look at that between Harry and Draco. Sure he was a spoiled arrogant prat, but he was offering himself in friendship. ~pets the pretty Draco~

I do love my pretty Draco, arrogance and all.
*beautiful*... thank you for all the *love* given to Draco in this... love your pulling us back and forth with the bittersweet poignancy depicting his Pureblood surroundings and expectations against his inner sensitive and beautiful being. Love Lucius and Narcissa's acceptance & support of him throughout the different times of his life and, whether people like it or not, even their ability to, need and expression for loving - the universal needs even in the Malfoys... Thank you for he uplifting ending! Beautiful, lovely work!!

Thank you for your lovely review. I always felt family was really important to the Malfoys.
Wow, Quaffie, that brought tears to my eyes. So beautiful, so poignant, so gentle. Just beautiful.

Thanks very much, Karelia.
No matter where they go, what they do, or who they do it with, they're always that beautiful little boy we first knew. :)
