I know! I was so shocked to read Lily & James' gravestones in DH and realise they were dead by 21, Sirius went to Azkaban at 21 and poor Sev was suicidal at that age. Watching the older actors in the films, I don't think I realised.
Good back story for Severus. Not quite the truth but close enough for horseshoes. ^_^

In the game of horseshoes, you score points by how close you can toss the horseshoe at the stake. Most points are gained by 'ringing' the stake or tossing the horseshoe around the stake, but the closer you are, the more points you gain. Hence the expression. It eventually morphed into the expression "Close enough for government work." Severus' story wasn't the whole truth, but it was close. ^_^
