Tonks may be the only one who can break him out of his post-war funk. I do hope he takes the initiative to contact her (although this would probably be a really short story if he didn't, LOL)

Tonks is such a wonderful character. I feel she was underused in the series, but I cannot regret that, as the minor characters leave us fic writers more room to explore. :)
A mature and even somewhat thoughtful Dudley? Even better. I don't know if Dudley really wants protection, or if he is smart enough to see it as a way to get Harry back to living, but either way it looks promising. I will be interested to see what happens when Tonks comes by ...

Ha! You realized that Dudley is a bit more clever than Harry will ever realize. Though his concern about being attacked in a house he can't manage to sell is warranted. He saw things he never should have, as a Muggle.
This is a fun start. I love stories where Dudley and Harry grow up to be friends. DH gave us hope that they could overcome their upbringing, after all. And I even like Luna and Ginny. Glad there are no hard feelings amongst the three.

First, I apologize for taking so long to respond. Life was a bit complex for a while.I am glad you like the Harry and Dudley dynamic. I thought JKR left enough wiggle room for that, as well.
Hopefully they can help heal eachother.

Or kill each other. Love's like that sometimes.
Glad to see that Teddy is a happy normal kid.
Sounds like they need eachother.

In so many ways. ;)
I am wondering if one of Harry's friends has had a word with Dudley, in hope that he can get through where they can not.
Response from Melenka (Author of Whistling in the Dark)
I doubt many of them would approach Dudley, all things considered. It's more likely that Dudley decided it was time Harry got himself back in the world, and having a good reason to make that happen was just kismet.
A great begining, I love storys that include Dudley.

Thank you! I think Harry's only living relative shouldn't be overlooked, especially when he had so much room for growth. Thanks for reading. :)
