I apologize in advance.
Reviews for Prisoner of Hope
Rereading this - as I have forgotten more than I know and all I can say, is this is nothing short of a masterpiece of work.Thank you so very much, again, for giving us Moody-lovers something brilliant to read. So very anxious to see how Alastor's relationships and experiences shape him, especially one tartan personality in particular. *winks*

My, you've been a busy bee. Yes, there are a LOT of easter eggs that sprkinkled throughout this narrative.
Your wonderful, second by second description is utterly captivating; I am enjoying Moody and Barty, his arrogance and unfortunately his Dark Arts skills against Moody *shuddering* so very much. Tom Riddle and Alastor - brilliant! *goosebumps tingling* Thank you for this rich story - I can feel every second the realness, true to canon, wonder of it - lovely work!

In my mind, I always thought of Riddle/Moody as the provervbial Yin/Yang of the HP universe. One turned left and the other turned right to become who they are, but both starting on the same road.
Well well well - I reread the last chapter, as you advised earlier - and then read this chapter - you write combat and excitment very well - and I was truly astonished as to what was going on - especially the Fiendfyre - that was brilliant and that Dumbles defeated it with a patronus while unconsious - well - that was a SQUEE moment for me - I think you wrote Dumbles brilliantly in this chapter - and the last - very canon - compassionate, authorative, confident, brilliant and still, humble - its a hard mix I find - to pull off.I also love, love, love Shacklebolt and Moody in this chapter and how Moody works so well with Shacklebolt - despite their slight snag in communication - and of course the absolute chaos of the situation - and I liked Bones' contrast - a bit daft - well actually - VERY daft, but still effective.Your Alastor is quite unique, I find - arrogant beyond imagination - mostly disciplined but not too much, and incredibly aware of his surroundings and lightning fast in his thinking - though still pleasantly sarcastic and flippant.Shacklebolt - in this chapter - if she hasn't proven herself to be absolutely without compare as an Auror - she does so here - and I found the Maestro's tenderness toward her endearing - isn't that the very first kind gesture we've seen from him? Many surprises, great excitment and, well lots of fun! Bravo! (that's supposed to be Alastor, Albus and Shacklebolt - don't know her first name - sorry!)

LOL! It's Queenie.

*snip*"Then they very well may have succeeded." The maestro waved his hand and the tapestry began to magically unravel. When the fibers rethreaded, they showcased an overlay of the demilitarized zone just a few miles away. "Our encampments bordering the Northern Forest have been overrun. I expect the Minister, herself, to make a formal declaration of war in the morning. He's already given me orders to implement Operation Green Purge."Just realized here, as I reread this chapter - is the Minister female or male? Confusing.
Response from White Eyebrow (Author of Prisoner of Hope)
I just fixed it; thanks for pointing that out.Since there was no documentation about who the minister was when I first outlined this story, I originally made that character male--then POTTERMORE came along and screwed everything up. I had to go back and change all of my references to the minister's gender.I'm hoping that Pottermore will ignore Moody as everyone else has; there's only so much I'll be able to backedit for the sake of compliance. (Is that selfish of me? )It seems JKR has added some bits about McGonagall's past on there that have put a monkey-wrench in my plans for that character as well. Grrr! I'm debating the wisdom of changing stuff around in order not to be labeled AU, but one of my goals for this project going in was to write something that fit seemlessly into the HP universe in such a way that it sneaks under the radar, so to speak. Wish me luck...
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
Much agreed - I stayed mainly in canon with my writing UNTIL Pottermore came and went bonkers on all the time lines, basically rewriting the books - so what I've decided - specifically with McGonagall - is that I'm going canon with her BEFORE Pottermore - which I think is some kind of weird hogwash or something - I mean Rowling is cutting out like 15 years of McGonagall's life and getting weird with relationships when we know Minerva lived in the castle through Harry's career - but I digress - I would encourage you to work with what you've already got in mind for the story and not let Pottermore influence you - but its your story and you have to do what you feel is right. I know I'll enjoy it none the less - though having all my faves, Moody, McGonagall AND Dumbledore is a major plus for me, and you've got them all!Another notion that I also go with is - my canon is what is actually IN the books - not what Rowling says is so - outside the books - for instance - I don't think its out of canon to write Dumbledore as straight - why? - because in the books - there was no real reference to his orientation - so canon-wise, I think him being straight is perfectly legit. I could also easily see something like Professor Sprout being married while she worked at the school, or Professor Flitwick being an official judge of some competition or something like that, really easily - because for the most part - Rowling doesn't delve into the personal relationships of the adults - save for Snape and the fab four - and Lily - well and the Dursleys, but really - she focuses mostly on the kids - which leaves us to enjoy focusing on the adults and creating our own stories - I do hope you take Pottermore with several grains of salt... you don't have to buy it - it doesn't even make logical sense and isn't compliant with the books - so there you go! *grins*
Powerful back stories - I adore your Alastor & Druella- ladies man indeed; powerful dialogue between Dumbledore & young Moody. Great scene with Moody pressing all of Crouch, Jr.'s buttons; unfortunately, he forgot how mad & vicious young Barty is - grea chapter!

I was always curious about Alastor's history. I figured someone as chopped up as he should have interesting back story.
I love the dynamics of the story with partial back story of his youth, and then switching back to his dire present! Wonderful description and unfolding action and detail! Again, his predicament is so very tangible and stressful - wonderful!

Thanks again. Hope it continues to hold your interest.
Wonderful! Love the rich, detailed description and atmosphere, Dumbledore and Moody's banter, the tangible moment to moment awareness of Moody - lovely work! The ending - poor Alaster! Thank you for capturing the perfect depiction of a great, but little written about canon character!

Thank you very much, Nagandsev. I felt that Moody's story needed to be told.
Hahaha! Great chapter--Fletcher--what a piece of work! But useful! Love Shacklebolt's convincing undercover work as well as Moody's tactics! Wonderful dynamics!
Response from White Eyebrow (Author of Prisoner of Hope)
I'm sure Moody liked Shacklebolt's undercover work as well.

Love the club and Pomona in action in more ways than one--love her expertise and helpful information. Could dear Queenie be even a wee bit jealous or wishing that Alastor continue his efforts? - hehe! Love the concept of the ecosystem healing itself and all of the elements with the giants and blackmarket wands intertwined--wonderful chapter!
Response from White Eyebrow (Author of Prisoner of Hope)
Yep, I always thought Pomona was one of those that had a wild streak in her youger years.

Mmmm... love Healer Bunbley ( a forest-elf, eh? *waggling eyebrows*--wonderful!!!) and the information provided from the autopsies--fascinating rich mixture of forensics and rogue Auror intrigue--now, about this herbologist--must read on! Wonderful detailed narrative and flow as always--just love this masterpiece of Moody lore!
