Reviews for Why She Does It
And that is exactly how it is: the child that turns out as something so much more than the sum of the parents. Fantastic, but oh so hard to let go.

I love hearing that I hit the nail right on the head! Thanks for taking the time to read it, and for sending your thoughts. I really appreciate it very much!
aw, thank you, this was the best...i'm going through this now with my oldest, turned 13, sprang up 4 inches, wears shoes bigger than his father, and trying to be an adult..i'm not ready......
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Why She Does It)
I don't think we're ever ready! *cries* I wasn't ready for when they walked--to think that back then I thought that would be the hardest first step! Now I am dreading seeing the whiskers on their smooth little cheeks. NOOOO! I am glad you could relate to this one; thanks so much for reading it!
Heart-wrenchingly painfull, poignant and beautiful all at the same time; the second-by-second observations are so vivid, so real and spot-on... really beautiful work, thank you!
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Why She Does It)
Thanks you so much for your lovely review! I really appreciate your coments, and I thank you so much for taking the time to read this, particularly since it is an original piece. Thanks so much, it made my day!
It's a nice tale. At one moment I thought he didn't know she was her mother so she could only watch him from afar. I'm glad it isn't. There's nothing sadder than a mother separated from her child.

This was a simple one without a twist, but I'm glad it could stand without it. Sometimes I feel the need to end on a happy note, even if it is only once in a very great while, so I am glad that you enjoyed it, and thank you so much for your review!
What a joy to come home after a long, tedious evening of soccer practice and read about... soccer :) This was fantastic, and heartfelt, and oh so very true. You know I will read and enjoy anything that you write, but this sort of tale is where your strength lies, and therefore is my favorite kind. You always seem to know exactly the right emotion for any given character or situation, and convey it in such a way that your reader can totally identify, whether they have been there or not. Beautiful look at the mixture of joy and distress that is parenthood.
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Why She Does It)
LOL! I hear you, about the whole soccer thing ... I'm heartily sick of it myself! I thank you for your lovely and encouraging review, though. This one wasn't one of my favorites, but it seems like people can identify with it, and for that I am glad. This one (as you know *winks*) is the most autobiographical of anything I have written, and for that reason it has a special place in my heart. It is always good to know that you like what I write. I would hate to disappoint you, and the day that you really hate something I write, I really will feel bad, so I have to thank you for reading and liking it!
that was lovely - I have a boy and I feel the same way

I'm so glad that you could identify with this! It is the closest I have come to writing something in my real life, and to hear it rings true is most gratifying. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
"Herd of boys" Very apt. As a mother of 21, 19, and 15 year old boys, I've been there, done that. You get to that moment when you realise they aren't cute little boys any more. Usually it's when they start calling you "Mother" instead of "Mummy"! PS. 21 and 19 year olds have definitely lost their "cute". Master 15 still has his moments. :)
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Why She Does It)
This is the closest to autobiographical that I have gotten, and I can that with 5 kids (4 of them boys) I can't imagine the day when they will be sporting goatees and driving. But when they were babies I never thought we'd be here now, so it's just life! WAHHH! And I never pictured you with 3 grown up boys! *high fives you* Go you!

I have an 8 year old daughter as well. Not quite the herd you have, but not bad considering I've worked fulltime throughout!
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Why She Does It)
That's quite a busy household, though. And especially considering your work. Cheers to you--you definitely deserve it!
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
Not so busy. Oldest isn't living at home (although he may come home for the summer holidays), 19 yr old in last stages of recruitment for army, third one at boarding school. next year should be very peaceful! :D
I have to say that I rarely read non-fanfic on this site but this grabbed me right away--as a mother of an almost-7 year old boy it really hit home. Thank you for writing it :)
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Why She Does It)
Oh, I thank you for letting me know that I got it right! It's good to hear that you enjoyed it; I'm sorry the story got misfiled into the fanfic section by mistake, but I am pleased that you enjoyed it anyway. Thanks so much for your review, I am cheered to know that you liked it! Thanks so much for reading!
You've done it again, keppie. Captured those elusive emotions, giving them life with words. This time it's that heartbreaking pull as a child grows up and moves on, perhaps becoming an adult who still resembles the child he once was. As a parent, you have that painful dichotomy: you want the child to be independent, yet still need you. Excellent shorty, keppie. You got me weepy.
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Why She Does It)
Aw, thanks so much for your excellent comments! I didn't think this one was very good, so it was nice to hear your kind review. This story is perhaps the closest I have written to anything biographical, so I am especially gratified to hear that you liked it. Thanks so much for your very kind words!

Keppie. This is one fine piece. Like your <i>'Artillery of Words'</i>, it strikes a very deep chord ... especially with my Mom.
Excellent
Author's Response: I didn't like this one, but I thank you very much for your words of praise. You are always too kind, Edge! I can't help but feel better about my stuff after reading your reviews! :)
