She hadn’t even knocked on his door that first day. She’d just kicked it open, and if he hadn’t seen the odd shoes peeping below the rest of what stood in his doorway, he would have assumed himself to have been addressed by a large blue and gold box.

Reviews for To Dance by the Light of the Moon
I'm a wee bit confused and intrigued, I think, just like Severus.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Don't worry about it, dear. It's what comes from trying to follow Luna's logic. Just lie down in a dark room with a large gin and a Potions Master anyone but a Potions Master, and all will be fine. Scaranda
What a horrible way to start a morning. How much better things become when he actually does something like ask the question. He doesn't ask the actual question, of course. He might learn something he doesn't want to know. Fortunately, our Luna is so forthright that she answers the real question, anyway, although even she shies away from telling him all of what she wants him to know.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
I know. It's like the hesitation waltz, isn't it? Thanks, Rose, as always. Scar
Luna is delightful, and poor Severus is way out of his depth. :)
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
He is indeed, without a lifebelt too. Thanks so much for reading, and for dropping a line. Scaranda
Poor Remus, he migth find the next portion of the Wolfsbane rather foul tasting, even more than usual I mean.....Again, I love your Luna and I suspect that she has had her eyes on a certain Potions Master before she came to Hogwarths and elisted the help from Remus to catch him. I am as usual looking forward for more.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Yes, he always makes it taste foul. A petty revenge, but satisfying to him nonetheless. I hope you enjoy the rest, and thanks so much for commenting. Scaranda
Oh dear. Jealousy rears its head. I loved the Snorkacks.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Yeah, I liked them too! Thanks so much for your comment. Hope you enjoy the rest. Scaranda
Oh dear, things are going so swimmingly in light of the feelings that Severus is sure he's not having until the very end there. What a cold bucket of sludgy pumpkin juice on his barely opened heart! Perhaps he'll be the better for having it broken wide open. There will be plenty of room for Luna and her menagerie that way.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Thanks, Rose, though I've a feeling Luna and her menagerie could squeeze into a very tight space indeed. Thanks, as always, for your support. Scar
Gringotts don't hold enough gold to set the value of Luna, she is absolutely priceless. Brilliant update, I look forward for more.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Oh, don't think for a moment that she hasn't got something to say later on about Gringotts gold,
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
. Watch out for her brilliant idea in a later chapter. Thanks for commenting. Scaranda
I suspect SOMEONE has been slipping him a right good bit of mares' milk by this point. His digestion and his whole outlook seem to have been soothed a great deal. Poor Lucius, though, probably still has no idea what hit him.
Response from Rose of the West (Reviewer)
BTW, this is my 300th review on this archive!
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
The 300th? I'm doubly honoured, and suitably impressed, Rose. How on earth do you manage to read, and write, and look after everyone? Well done, and thanks so much as always. Award yourself as large glass of mare's milk... ugh, better make that Severus's whisky... whilst I tend to Lucius's bruised head and battered ego. Scaranda
So much gossip! It looks like people find it hard to mind their own business, don't they?
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
The sad fact is that they think it is their business! Thanks so much for continuing to read. Hope you enjoy the rest. Scaranda
Separate staff rooms? Does that really happen in real life? Anyway, having females and males discuss the new event separately produced a nice effect in the story. It looks like betting on Luna quitting was foolish. They obviously don't know her.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
When I went to school in the dim and distant past in Scotland, there were separate entrances for boys and girls. I'm not sure what the powers-that-were thought five-year-old girls would catch from five-year-old boys, but that was the way it was. In fact, until the mid 1950's, only unmarried ladies were permitted to teach children under the age of eleven. In my own school (which was girls only) we had only one male teacher, and he had his own little staff room. It's hardly surprising that he only lasted a couple of terms (and surprising that any of us ever grew up). Thanks so much for dropping another line. Scaranda
I love Luna.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
You've got to love her; it's compulsory and unavoidable. Thanks so much for commenting again. Scaranda
You need to be resourceful to write Luna. She's a Ravenclaw after all. I like it.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
She is indeed, and far too many people ignored that fact. The Sorting Hat knew better though. Thanks so much for dropping a line; it's very much appreciated. Scaranda
That's funny! I love Luna and am glad you took her.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Thanks for that,

I must mark your story not work-safe. My collagues are sending my strange looks when I keep a silly smile on my mouth and burst out laughing when I should do serious things on the computer...Brilliant as always, you are my hero:-))
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Thanks so much again,
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
. You've quite dazzled me with your brilliance... I didn't know one could do 'serious things' with a computer. Thanks again. Scaranda
I'm really loving the little world you have set up here.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Thanks so much, blue artemius. Glad you're enjoying it, and thanks so much for dropping a line. Scaranda
I love the way Severus admires how gracious Luna was when she was "bested" although calling that interaction an even draw would be generous to Severus. It's funny how all the men admire her, but all the women grumble about how she's not like them.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
You know, Rose, I think you're right. The men all do fancy her, I think... something that Severus would enjoy with a degree of cynical but unacknowledged pleasure. Thanks again. Scar

This is wonderful. Snuna has to be done just right for me, and this fits the bill. Thoroughly enjoyable, I look forward to the rest. :)
Author's Response: Thanks so much for that. Glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for reading along, and for dropping by to leave a message. Scaranda
Oh, dear, she better do something about that permanganate. Teaching Potions IS fun.*enjoys thought of Snape lying awake at night, imagining ways he would _like_ to kill Dumbledore, over and over again*
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
I know. Things are quite out of control already, and the pity is that no one really knows that yet. Thanks, as always, Rose. Scar
Wonderful, I am so totally in love with your Luna, what a magnificiant girl:-))
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Glad you're still enjoying it,
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)

Now he's aiding and abetting without any idea how he got there. Our professor is in serious trouble. *sigh* I love this story.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
I know. He's digging himself in, isn't he? Thanks, Rose.
Well, now it's the property of the staff and we're off to the races. Reading this again, I have to wonder whether our quiet Lupin was perhaps always an instigator. Perhaps that was his true role in the Marauders.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Yeah. My mum always told me to watch out for the quiet ones. Thanks, as always. I so value your support. Scaranda
I do love the absurd when it's placed in such a rich setting, and I love the way Luna exposes the absurdities in Severus's life but in such a gentle way that he actually likes it.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Thanks, Rose. I think he'd find it refreshing to be in the company of someone who had no intentions of being intimidated. Thanks again. Scaranda
Wonderful update, I was so happy to see a new chapter added. I love your Luna, Severus and Hogwarths have obviousely never seen anything like her:-) I loved the detail about Remus being the one who told Luna about the job, very nice twist.
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Thanks for that,

. Glad you're enjoying it. Thanks again. Scaranda
Absolutely fantastic, your Luna is wonderful and I can't wait to read more about her:-)) My bet is that in the end Severus either has to kiss her senseless or kill her:-))
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
Thanks for that,
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
. I shall give you odds on the outcome once you've read a couple more chapters. Thanks so much for dropping by to leave a note. Much appreciated. Scaranda
Luna makes an excellent Slytherin, primarily because nobody expects her to be capable of deceit! I love her dizzying displays of logic, and watching everyone around her stumble to try to keep up with her train of thought (which I imagine many people suspect to have been derailed).
Response from scaranda (Author of To Dance by the Light of the Moon)
She would make a good Slytherin, wouldn't she? I suppose being a Ravenclaw made her smart enough to stay away from them though. As for derailing her, I suspect it would be simpler to derail the Hogwarts Express. Thanks for that. Scaranda
