Reviews for Cold Comfort
I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw the warnings but I'm so glad I wasn't put off. There's a beautiful poignancy and hope about this that transcends the subject matter. Simply lovely.

Thank you so much for reading this despite the warnings. I felt like I had to adequately warn people, but I am glad that you weren't scared away or disappointed by the handling of a sensitive subject. Your review of this really made my day. Thank you so much! :D

I already reviewed this story on another site and i couldn't help myself doing it again! I usually run when i see warnings such as yours, but for some reason i didn't read the warnings and just read the story. I must admit, i was thoroughly disturbed...but i loved the story. You wrote it beautifully, and they way you portrayed Severus' emotions it help me not think so much on the act itself but the reason behind it. If that makes any sense.I can't wait to read your other stories. Great Job!

I'm so glad you were able to read beyond what bothered you to see the story beneath it. Although I had to write it for the kinkfest and it had to be very physical, I had the emotions in mind as the real showcase of the story. That was what I was really going for, and I am glad that they came through. Thank you for both the compliments you bestowed in your comments, and the compliment of reading something that disturbed you more than once. I am very flattered, and I appreciate it very much.

You are most welcome! Your review was well derserved so i had no issue writing it.
Ok, this calls for a momentary truce. I truly expected to be totally grossed out by this, according to the warnings attached. And on the surface, it really is disturbing. Partly because we have no way of knowing if it would have been consensual, and partly because, well obviously, one of the partners was dead, But it focused heavily on the emotions that Severus was experiencing, and I was very moved by them. It really made me feel sad for him, that he was never able to experience those things in a normal setting. I don't know if you had a reason for Harry's death in mind when you wrote this, but I can't help but think about whether Harry had similar feelings about Severus, but just couldn't face telling him, or live while never telling him. Wouldn't that make this all even worse! Regardless, I hope that Severus got whatever it was that he needed from the encounter and can move forward. I hope that other readers are able to get around the obvious ickiness of the act, to enjoy the rest of the intent of the story. Remember, you'll never make everyone happy. I just couldn't tease you after reading this. I can't, however, guarantee your safety with the next story. You've been warned ;)

Thank you for such a thoughtful and well-considered review! It IS a very tough subject, one that I had to steel myself to tackle in the first place. It wasn't my kink, but that made it a lot easier to try and understand it. I don't know if I did it justice at all, but after COUNTLESS re-writes (and, oh my God, I tell you... I made my poor mom read every version. That lady deserves a medal) I felt like this was the best I could do. I wrote all of the emotions in first, and the smut in second, so I really feel like it was a very emotion centered piece right from the get-go. I just am humbled by people like you who are able to read without reservation. I have expected so many flames, but I really have to just thank you so much for your willingness to try something new even if you are reading it through your fingers. Thanks for trusting my writing and going there with me, I'm glad I didn't disappoint.I deserve every bit of razzing on the next one, which is also a kink entry, and I am already blushing red at the though of it being read by anyone. Just bear in mind that I didn't think it up. And yes, it has a Weasley, but things don't end well. Short truce over quickly. ;)

You are so welcome. If people don't have sense enough to stop reading when they see a warning they know they won't like, then their review doesn't hold much weight in my opinion.Your poor mother. As for her medal, well, all I can picture now, is her up on the platform at the Olympics, hearing her national anthem, feeling so proud that she survived reading this stuff.I didn't tease you after reading this first, because it didn't put me in that frame of mind, but second because you said you aren't into this kink. Which I can only assume means you had to do some research. So either you had to go into your local library, and ask the ninety year old appalled librarian to point you to Necrophilia for Dummies, or you did an internet search which dropped all sorts of cookies onto your computer, and you will be getting freaky spam mail and pop ups for the next six months. Both gave me a good laugh. If your upcoming tale makes you blush, I will undoubtedly break out in hives *runs off to buy some Benedryl*
Response from Keppiehed (Author of Cold Comfort)
Let's just say there is a newly educated swath old folks here in middle America who know WAY more than they ever wanted to about necro, thanks to me, lol. Actually, once I explained the whole fest, my mom kept saying "you need more smut! This isn't graphic enough! Come on, really give 'em what they want!" and then I thought I'd die.As for the next one... it is so wrong. I want to take my name off. At least this one had heart. That one is an embarrassment to humanity. Get your Benadryl ready.

O.o
Okay, that was just... wrong.
But it was an incredible emotional exploration into that twisted being we all know as Snape.
Poor Harry. Wounded in Life... Violated in Death.
Talk about no Justice!
Author's Response: That was the kink I had for the fest, so I had to decide how I wanted to showcase and explore it. It is very difficult to write that and not squick peope, and to bring heart to it. I didn't know much about it, so I did quite a bit of research into it and came at it from this angle, but it wasn't easy to write. Thanks for reading something that is definitely outside the norm. It takes an open mind, and I appreciate that.
EdgeOfDark's response: You're quite welcome.
You said you wanted '...to bring heart to it.'
Yes, you did, and it was impressive.
Author's Response: awww... *hugs you* Thank you for being so kind! *is happy*
