“Uh, no,” he replies numbly. “We don’t have any nails.”

Heh-heh!  I'm just relieved he didn't immediately turn the duck into duck l'orange.  Thanks for the giggles!

Okay this has made my Sat. morning.  Great job.

I'm still pondering over the last line, and the bit with the duck washing behind its ears... ducks don't have ears!  *flustered faces*  No lips either, so talking is kind of tough...  Well. My guess is physical impossibilities are about as important in the wizarding world as they are in children's literature.  Very cute, and just the thing I didn't even know I needed.
