Hello all, I am a 53 year old from NZ. Although SSHG is how I started and still my main pairing, I'll give pretty much any pairing a try, whether it be reading or writing. Sev and Herms need a bit of variety at times. ;)

LOL!
That was great!
It also reminds me of a joke...
On a Monday morning, a duck waddles up to the check-out counter at the local bakery and looks up at the astounded clerk.
“Hey,” says the duck, “ya got any grapes?”
The clerk shakes his head. “No,” he replies. “We don’t have any grapes.”
“Okay,” says the duck. The clerk watches curiously as the duck waddles out of his store.
On a Tuesday morning, a duck waddles up to the check-out counter at the local bakery and looks up at the astonished clerk.
“Hey,” says the duck, “ya got any grapes?”
Absolutely sure that this is the same duck from yesterday, the clerk resolutely shakes his head. “Nope,” he replies. “We don’t have any grapes.”
“Okay,” says the duck. The clerk is perplexed as the duck waddles out of his store.
On a Wednesday morning, the duck waddles up to the check-out counter at the local bakery and looks up at the expectant clerk.
“Hey,” says the duck, “ya got any grapes?”
There was no question that this is the same duck from yesterday, and the clerk glared at the duck and said:
"Look you, we don’t have any grapes, we won’t get any grapes, and if you ask me for grapes one more time, I’m gonna nail your feet to the floor!”
“Okay,” says the duck. The clerk is quite angry as the duck waddles out of his store.
On a Thursday morning, duck waddles up to the check-out counter at the local bakery and looks up at the expectant clerk. The clerk’s jaw is set in a firm, angry grimace as he glares down at the duck.
The duck, just as determined, looks him in the eyes and says:
“Hey, ya got any nails?”
Totally caught off guard, the clerk gives a surprised look and scratches his head.
“Uh, no,” he replies numbly. “We don’t have any nails.”
“Good,” says the duck. “Ya got any grapes?”Author's Response: ROFL. :D
Heh-heh! I'm just relieved he didn't immediately turn the duck into duck l'orange. Thanks for the giggles!
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
Hmm. Hermione might have had something to say about that. :)

Adorable! :o))) I don't know the book you mention - unfortunately so, it seems, but I can imagine it quite well with your tale. It really makes a fine birthday present.
Author's Response: Thanks! :)
There's nothing quite like a touch of whimsy to bring a smile to one's face. I must admit the last line nearly killed me! :D
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
Hehe. :)
Okay this has made my Sat. morning. Great job.
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
Thanks. :)
I'm still pondering over the last line, and the bit with the duck washing behind its ears... ducks don't have ears! *flustered faces* No lips either, so talking is kind of tough... Well. My guess is physical impossibilities are about as important in the wizarding world as they are in children's literature. Very cute, and just the thing I didn't even know I needed.
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
LOL. Thanks. :)
Thank you sunny for making my morning.
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
You're welcome. :)
LOL! I just wonder how she did manage to slip out of Severus' quarters and then reenters before him if she is the duck ?
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
Hush. You're not supposed to ask too many questions! :P
The duck flew down. It looked up at Severus. “Quack,” it said. “You were only joking, weren’t you?” said Severus, smiling despite himself.Very funny, and most enjoyable!
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
Thank you. :)
One very odd, but entertaining story!
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
It is odd, I know! :)
But how did she get the cat to quack?
Response from sunny33 (Author of Odd, Very Odd)
The cat is Minerva, of course! :)
