I picked up the Harry Potter fandom around the time the first movie came out and began writing fanfic early 2005 after discovering the adult online community. I identify most closely with the Slytherins and you will see my taste in writing lends me to writing about Slytherins more often than not. In addition to fanfiction, I also make fanvids on the Harry Potter fandom. I'm a Perfect Imagination acredited beta and am willing to help authors. My main 'ship interests are Snape/OC (never really got into the SS/HG pairing) and LM/any female (with HG as a new favorite). I have dabbled in RL/OC and RL/NT and am okay with those pairings. I generally shy away from slash, just not my thing. For updates on my writing, check out my Live Journal
Reviews for The Belated Birthday
Hi Jean! I hope you remember me(p) from Italy. I am very glad to have found your name in one of my random trips to the site.Of course, I have read the story in a breath and enjoyed it a lot. How nice it would be if Severus had really been offered such a joyful feast! Thankfully, we have fanfiction to redress the balance ;) Hoping to "see" you soon again, all the best for the new year.

Great to hear from you again. :) I was just wondering about you as I was going through email.I really thought after all the nastiness he went through with Voldie and the war, a nice birthday party was what he needed. :)
That was wonderful.

Thanks. :) Every now and then I like to give Severus some happiness out of the blue. His birthday seemed like a good occasion.
Just wanted to share the love here, too! Still think it's brilliant! :)

Thanks, SW. :D Unfortunately, or fortunately, my flist wasn't posting about his birthday until what was late in my day on the 9th. But I really like the idea of Dumbledore having his party a day late. That just seems so in character for the old schemer. <eg> Glad you liked it.
Absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful addition to the story. This could be completely canon. I wonder what JKR would think. *hum... Well - anyway, I loved it. Truffles! Sara

Well, knowing JKR she would insist that Severus was a miserable hermit the entire time at Hogwarts. But I honestly have to think that he did befriend at least some of them. After all, Minerva seemed to hold him in high regard and be shocked that he had killed Albus. I personally love the idea of him finding some friendship with some of his fellow professors and I like the idea of his birthday being what opens that door.
That was quite pleasant. I'm glad he was feeling the love from his colleagues. I hope he took advantage of the fact that the others wanted to be kind to him.

Thank you. :) I like to think that he did open up to them and finally learn to trust at least a little bit. After all Death Eaters and the Hogwarts staff are pretty much polar opposites.
I'm glad he finally accepted others to come near him. And that he enjoyed himself a bit at his own birthday party.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Belated Birthday)
Thanks. :) I think after all his years of isolation he really needed the family that the Hogwarts staff could be for him. I hate the idea of him being a recluse the entire time at Hogwarts.
Naw, bless him for being "scared". Good for him he has never been at a staff party at my school ;)A truly lovely story and a wonderful birthday gift.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Belated Birthday)
Thanks. :) I don't think that he was as much scared and more than he had become so introverted and hermit like and didn't like coming out of his shell. I thought that since he was free of Voldemort (the first time) that it would be good for him to have a celebration in his honor.
He was like a lamb thinking he was being led to slaughter - only it was only the warm wishes of his coworkers on his birthday. I'm so glad that he finally had a birthday that he enjoyed. You really brought out his pestismistic side quite well.
Response from phoenix (Author of The Belated Birthday)
I tried to figure out what it would be like for him to be a known traitor (according to some) free because of one man. And his pessimistic side is so easy to write. I really do think that at 22 he would have been so beat down after everything at Hogwarts and the war and that he would have very little positive left in his life. I have always enjoyed stories where he and Minerva are friends, and I always thought he would have been at least cordial with his coworkers and it had to start somewhere.
Awwww, I love it...well done...it's perfect. Bless Severus' heart!

. :) It's always interesting taking a look at young Severus to try to see how he was given what we know of the boy and the man. I think he needed to know that he was accepted.
Response from Becky (Reviewer)
Oh yes I totally agree with you there, he was so neglected in his childhood I fear, bless his heart...Well done...
What a lovely story thank u
