I always feel extremely strange when I'm writing these things, having never really been all that good at talking about myself. In any case, here are the basics: I'm a 41-year-old Canadian who started reading the Harry Potter books about twenty years (!) ago just to see what all the fuss was about. I wrote my first fanfic about a year later, and I've been semi-active in the fandom ever since. I am very musical; I play the bagpipes, I've played the violin since I was about nine years old and I sing with two choirs (a community choir I've been singing with since 1997 and a church choir I've been singing with since late 2008). Writing is also one of my many obsessions, and (much to my relief) the monstrous case of writer's block which grabbed me for a couple of years seems to be gradually letting go. Even so, should I submit any chaptered fics here, it's reasonable to assume that the updates will be pretty far apart even if they're actually finished before I start posting. It's not intentional; I'm just, at times, a little forgetful.

I hate to break the news to you, but Sesame Street didn't really make it in the UK until the 70's (by which time Severus would probably have been too old to watch it) -- and even then, it wasn't very popular, in part because it was thought that British children wouldn't understand a lot of the American slang. I spent three years of my childhood in the UK when my father's company transferred him there, and I had to do without Sesame Street -- I seem to recall that they were just starting to introduce The Electric Company to British children at around the time my parents and I returned to the States in 1975 when I was seven.
Rubber duckie *faint with laughter*this is truly a very Snapish ritual. NO one can get near this!much better than visiting a grave . This is something anybody does on the 1st of November. But the critical undergoing of washing ones hair. that is very very obviously tailored to one special person.

What can I say? I love to write Snape. JKR was right—he really is a gem of a character. Thanks for your review.
I couldn't believe it that he washes his hair only ince a year. But then I saw the song. I didn't know it (living in France) but it's simply hilarious on Severus' tongue.
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
I'm glad you liked it. Normally I don't quote full songs if I include them at all in my stories—songfics tend to annoy me—but because I knew that there were people who don't know the song, I thought it would be a good idea to include the complete lyrics. Thanks for reviewing.
I don't know if that was hilariously funny or really, really scary. Haha, I go with funny!!
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Thank you.
i love the rubber duckie song!! the picture of him singing was almost too much to bear. thanks and many smoochies
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Glad you liked it. I've always thought that as far as writing goes, if you put two or more things together that aren't supposed to actually go together (i.e. "Rubber Duckie" and good old Tall, Dark and Sarcastic), the result is likely to be amusing. So far I seem to be right, and it's always nice to know that I've made people laugh.
You are one sick and twisted puppy. I had to cover my mouth I was laughing so hard. We need to put Snape and Ernie together with the suds on their heads and have them sing the song together.
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Now there's a thought! It probably wouldn't work out too well for Ernie, though. I imagine Snape would probably end up hexing him within minutes of meeting him. And I'm glad you liked the story—making people laugh is one of my favourite pastimes.
Response from sevibaby (Reviewer)
After sending you this review a very scary thing popped up in my head. Lucius sing to baby Scorpius "Sing, Sing a Song" from Seseme Street. Then at the end Lucius and Severus doing the La, La, La, La. I know very scary.
Oh, the images! :)
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Ridiculousness is my specialty. Thanks for reviewing.
Misuse? Hardly! Oh my gosh, I laughed all through his singing. It was hilarious. And a great story behind the greasy locks!
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Glad you liked it. I wanted Snape to stop being such a melodramatic twit for a few minutes, and what's less melodramatic than taking a bath with a squeaky toy? Thanks for reviewing, and I'm glad you don't think I misused your prompt.
Love it!!! Thanks for a huge smile :)
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Reviews tend to make me smile, so I must thank you for the same.
Excellent! The picture in my head of Severus singing Rubber Duckie was too funny.
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
I thought so, too—it's one of the reasons I wrote this fic. Thanks for your review.
Good one! I wonder if he know's "It's not easy being green?" It could be the Slytherin themesong. Thanks for the good read - Sara
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
If he knows "Rubber Duckie", there's a good chance he knows "It's Not Easy Being Green". With a few minor adjustments, of course. Thanks for reviewing!
Hahaha! I loved your take on his ritual. It was witty and unexpected. Nicely written.
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Thanks for your review. If there's one thing I love to do, it's making people laugh.
Hilaiously funny. He only washes his hair once a year? augh. Loved the rubber ducky song, and the idea of Severus actually singing it, made me smile.
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
Thanks for reviewing—I'm glad you enjoyed this story.
Loved it! I was in dire need of a laugh and this fic did the job. I don't know the tune of the song but the mental picture was highly entertaining.
Response from Pennfana (Author of Halloween Rite)
I'm glad that you enjoyed it and that I was able to give you a much-needed laugh. Thanks for reviewing.
Quite the juxtaposition. Entertaining.
