He thought he'd arrived in the lowest depths of hell but eventually realised that wasn't quite the case.

Thank you!
It's seems very Severus for him to have to talk himself up from deserving to be in the worst parts of hell to having a chance at life and even heaven.Very nice.
Response from karelia (Author of Not Quite the Alleged Inferno)
Thank you! Yes, I'd imagine him like that, lol :D
Oh, I love this! It was poetic beauty that he went through all those levels to end up on the one that counted. =o) Yay!!

Great work! The "counting down" of the levels gives a nice dynamic to it.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
there was someone reading his Dante? So Snape found his Beatrice to lead him to heaven! *bravado*you've described his sort of agony and the reliving the bad deeds, good deeds very good!always a step less infernal.I definitely do prefere it that way round for him.And he was the only Death Eater that could produce a Patronus? I never thought of that.logical indeed. Always something new to learn in this universe of potter verse.

Thank you for a lovely and thoughtful review!I tend to look at possible resolutions from various angle and then take the one that appeals most. Being a generally happy person, I prefer happy endings, of course, so going backwards from the lowest level was the logical thing for me to do, lol.I think it is safe to imply that he was the only DE capable of casting a Patronus. Canon shows only him to do it, and if I remember correctly, JKR even said as much in an interview a few years ago.
Lovely:) Just lovely:) Severus is very believable and so is Hermione:)Brava!

Nice inter-pre-tation of the prompt.
Author's Response: You left a review? *faints*
Thank you!
Brilliant!!! You know, when I first saw the prompt for GS100 this week I thought it was too "complicated" to be well written in a drabble format...You've proved me wrong!!!! This was witty, amusing and poignant all at the same time. I loved how Snape's insights reflected his personality perfectly. So well done!

Thank you so much!I admit that when I saw the prompt, I drew a complete blank for just a hundred words, but then it kind of started percolating throughout the afternoon, and I ended up writing this one. :D
I really liked that, and drabbles usually aren't my thing.
Response from karelia (Author of Not Quite the Alleged Inferno)
I'm glad you read it, even though you don't usually read drabbles! Thank you!
What a great way to start my morning then to read a lovely drabble where Severus lives.
