I have loved the written word since watching my mother’s fingers trace the lines of a book, luxuriating in riveting tales and well-turned phrases. Many a night I read until dawn, a plastic flashlight hidden under the covers to light the pages as I raced the rising sun to finish my latest must-read.
Since joining the HP fandom, I've been privileged to receive more than 50 awards, including Best Author (Quill to Parchment Awards) and Best Classic Author (Most Potente Passions). Among others, my stories have won awards for Best Hurt/Comfort (Spoils of War, Morning Has Broken), Best Novel Length (Calling Card, Guard…Check…Mate), Best One Shot (A Beach in Ireland), Best WIP (Saving a Death Eater, The Summoning), Favorite Overall Story (Complexities), and Readers’ Choice (A Quest of Paladins).
Aside from a judicious polish for formatting and egregious typos, I don't plan on revising my early work. Those stories are the stepping stones of my writing journey. Please note some stories contain adult content. None is more graphic than equivalent scenes in the television shows True Blood or Game of Thrones, and age appropriate warnings are posted.
I no longer write fanfiction prolifically. Like many fanfic authors, my focus has shifted to original work. A member of the Romance Writers of America and the Southern California Writers Association, I write under my name: Lin Thornhill.
My original story Verisimilitude published in Thoroughly Modern Monsters (Story Spring Publishing, 2013) reached the top 100 fantasy anthologies and broke into the top 10 in the UK the first month of release. Ben and Christine’s story will continue in 2016.
Fixation, my latest short story, slated for publication in J. Aldis’ anthology Immanence, with a winter 2015-2016 release, is particularly exciting as it anchors the Messengers of Inari novel series I’ve been developing for the past year.

Sad and rather brilliant.
I basically jumped into this story being desperate since the new authors aren't giving enough updates for my reading appetite. I was literally sniffing when I started reading because I have low expectations of one-shots but your one-shot changed my view. Then I saw who wrote it. Of course! You have a very good track record and was one of my fav. FF authors. So, how do we buy your original works? That I see you are working on in your comments?
Could it be considered as some Stockholm syndrom? Because apparently he raped her, even if he was under the Imperius curse.
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
I don't think Stockholm Syndrome is applicable in this situation, unless you're considering him to have been the victim. Actually I think they're both victims, and ... you know, I can't really tell you about the even itself, because I'm strongly considering developing this idea into a longer story. Thanks, though, for your comments. I do appreciate that the story inspired such a thoughtful comment.
yes, again i think that is what she would do. wonderful. thanks muchly
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Thank you. I think she would feel it was her duty to take care of Crabbe, after all, he's dead, but then all those things that swirl in muddy lethargy between her and Draco would impel her to be compassionate.
Loved this, & 'brewing in pairs'. The compassion & forgiveness you have expressed are wonderful. Very real
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Thank you so very much. These two snippets are the first I've written of DM/HG after Deathly Hallows, and I'm so pleased you liked them.
I'm so happy to see you posting this here and I'm hopeful that you will find a way to continue this. I adored this ficlet and love that your characters are so real. *hugs*
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Thank you, my friend. I'm very drawn to this ficlet, and I think it could make for a rather dark story, but it's one I'm considering exploring. You know, after I finish posting 'Harbinger', and finish 'Saving a Death Eater', and ... well ... then there's 'The Summoning'. I think I have my work cut out for me!
That was a really neat story.
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
I'm very pleased you liked it. Thanks.
well written, as I always expect from you, Bambu. very touching, endearing and surprising, engaging and thought-provoking.

Awwww, what a lovely thing to say. Thank you!
I just read all three of your shorts and enjoyed them thoroughly. Quite realistic and believable.I love the way you write. Always a good read.
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
You've brought a huge smile to my face, especially as you think the pieces are believable. I always want to achieve that in my work. Thank you.
that was lovely. thank you!
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Thank you, as well, for saying so.
A very good read. It would make a wonderful start to a large fic.Though i was a bit confused on the why's and how, and for what purpose they had sex. Was she raped? Was it consensual?
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Thank you. I think you're probably right, but I have three unfinished WIPs at the moment, and I've promised myself not to engage in another until at least two of them are complete! One will be finished posting next week, and then there were two!I deliberately left the references to their having sex vague, but to answer your question, yes they had sex, and it was pretty well unconsensual, except ... there were mitigating circumstances. Which is why she can be kind to him now, after he's so broken. She's a little broken too.
Response from chyara (Reviewer)
Well I will look forward to your completed fics...your one of my favs.
Nice story. I never really liked Draco, though. He didn't even have the nerve to become a real Death Eater. He reminds me so many people I know who are all "big talk, little action". Did he really redeeme himself, being strong at the moment you describe, or was he just being weak to his cause once more? I wonder. I'd never trust him, but I liked your story very much.
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Thank you. I don't think there's a great deal to like about Draco, especially after the publication of books six and seven. I don't think he's ever been particularly strong, even from the time he was a little boy, and he's afraid of many things (and I think with very good reason; he knows what hunts people at night.) Whether he redeemed himself is something that an exploration of this scenario might show, if and when I do write it.
Amazing. I don't really like Draco Malfoy, at least not the Malfoy in the books, but you made him real and showed that rather than a villian, he is another traumatized, victimized child expected to bear too heavy a burden too soon. And you showed a Hermione who could dig down inside herself to find compassion for those who need it, which is the essence of Hermione, I believe. Thanks for an amazing story:){{hugs}}Fizzabella
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Draco's difficult to like in the books, particularly post-HBP and DH. Having said that, I'm so pleased to have given you reason to take a second look. He's never been particularly brave, and his father is terribly overbearing, even if Lucius does love Draco deeply.I quite agree; Hermione is compassionate, and in this case, she has reason to be kind to Draco ... he found it within himself to help her despite his fear, confusion and loathing. I'm thrilled you liked the story, Fizzabella, and thank you so much for telling me.

I honestly must say that I really don't know what to say or to describe what feelings and thoughs this evoked in me. It's really good and very intense.
Author's Response: That's very, very gracious of you. This is indeed an intense piece, but I suspect there was a lot that happened to Hermione when no one saw, and I doubt she talks about it much.
Thank you for reading the piece.
I don't remember reading this before, but it's great! Lovely emotions, nice and deep and complex.
Response from Bambu (Author of Moments of Compassion)
Thanks, Kaz, for taking a chance on this. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it.
