Sometimes writing, nearly always beta reading, I love to unwind after work by reading fanfiction.

Lovely!

This is lovely and tender. Narcissa's love for Lucius shines through so clearly.

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thank you so much!  I see Narcissa as devoted to her family first of all, and I'm always happy when someone else gets that out of this piece.

I still find it difficult to pity Lucious, but I was moved by human your Narcissa is.  Well done :)

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thanks.  I think Narcissa can be forgiven a lot of her decisions due to her nurturing instinct.  She's just married to an evil man.

Lovely. You make them ordinary people who love each other and appreciate and value the things everyone does-warmth, security and care.  Written with your usual thoughtful attention to just enough detail:)Warm regards,Fizzabella

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Aww, thanks.  I think everyone (except Voldy there at the end) is human and ordinary on some level, just needing the same things we all do.  And thanks especially for the comment about details, because that is always one of my goals!

This was heart-breakingly beautiful!(Almost makes me feel bad about how I usually protray Lucius ...)

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Wow, thanks. (And I think he deserves all of the bad he gets.)

Response from morgaine_dulac (Reviewer)

Naw, be nice to Lucius ;)

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

I am... sometimes.  I guess you could say I have a love/hate thing with Lucius.  Sometimes he's the hero, and other times, he's Scary Evil.  Although after seeing him in DH, he just seems less scary.  Well, I've definitely been reading too many of the LM/HG exchange fics.

Dear Merrin, there were so many things to like about this story. I particularly liked the opening. You caught the sense of anticipation and anxiety and terror very well indeed. The caring inherent in the intimate act of bathing was also brillinant.Well done. :)

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Wow, thanks!  It's great to know it all worked so well.

I've never thought that Narcissa and Lucius didn't love each other deeply and you confirmed it!

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Wow!  Thanks. *blushes*

You can see the love in the way she bathed him.  Lovely.

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thank you :) I imagine Slytherins are rather used to showing their love rather than using lots of words.

I like that you showed Narcissa as caring for Lucius.  You gave her another dimension.

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thanks.  I am a hopeless romantic with these two, knowing that they have their share of dark and light, but feeling that they must love each other to preserve their own humanity.

A very believable account of what may have transpired on his first night back.Well done.

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thanks.  I try to aim for believable, as tempting as it was to let them enjoy each other a little more before succumbing to sleep.

Excellent, excellent snapshot!

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Hee! Yay! Thank you!

Rose of the West

Whatever we feel for this pair, they're so functional as a married couple and this piece draws that out so beautifully.  It's a precious moment for them, and whatever happens next with the Dark Lord, they'll have that moment.

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thanks.  I think that expresses exactly how I feel about it.

Narcissa's consideration and tenderness.. Beautiful and deeply moving.

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thanks so much.  Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, but your review has made me smile again :)

Very wonderfully written. You did an excellent job capturing a broken Lucius and loving Narcissa who wants nothing more than to see him made whole again. Thank you.

Response from WriterMerrin (Author of After Azkaban)

Thanks. Narcissa is one of the most real characters to me in the books, and I think she's proven herself to be someone who loves deeply.
