Reviews for Lavender
I loved this the first time I read it, and it only improved upon the second read. My heart leapt into my throat when Severus said, ‘I am surprised that you did not rush to cover up, Hermione.’
Three cheers for Lucius and his matchmaking. :D
Lovely, lovely story! Lucius, you sly dog, you - what a good friend you are!

I wonder if he knew about Hermione's sun-bathing habits?
A delightful bit of summer smut. Loved it!

Summer envy as well as HPCon_envy, I think - it has hardly stopped raining for three weeks.
I loved the way you brought all the senses into play. The sun on Hermione's body, the cushion's buttons digging into her skin, the smell of lavender in the air, and the smells of both their bodies. Such an evocative fic.

Thank you!
Interesting! This is probably the fourth time I've read this story. Why do I keep coming back to it? It has some really nice touches....The very first sentence where H. has to shift because those buttons are digging into her skin. Next, the change in light that causes the lavender rows to cast a shadow. And next, the sense of the "sun protection" (aka: sun screen) spell having been cast...the indication that the intruder is someone who cares, whose first instinct is to protect on this basic and very physical level.Next, I loved the detail of Severus's pausing to "ruffle" the lavender, to enjoy or to gain courage from the sensual glory that masses of lavender can give.I've put this on my favourites list for these reasons...and I thank you!

Thank you! Many years ago I revised for my exams lying on just that cushion. I very much enjoy descriptions of scents in stories, but many authors seem to ignore what is supposed to be our most evocative sense.
I don't think I will ever smell lavender without blushing. And I must add that I spent a great deal of time where there's plenty of it growing outside...

*snorts* That is a great tribute to my ficlet!
this is so hot and touching. you have combined smut and romance in such a beautiful way. I can even picture Lucius plotting and scheming so that the two of them can have their perfect moment alone in a perfect setting. Well I always knew that he was a man of taste

Thank you! I did wonder whether to introduce Lucius's white peacocks, but decided that would tempt me into something too long and end up as a second WIP.
Response from kakoli (Reviewer)
I rather think that the white peacocks might have been involved in his own courtship. I imagine something like Narcissa and Lucius meeting clandestinely during a full moon night in the famous rose gardens of the Malfoys surrounded by white peacocks and fairy lights.
This is so sweet and passionate that I had to read it twice! Beth

Brilliant. Hermione is one lucky gal!

Yes - most of us would just have got sunburn...
Great story. Lemony and sweet. Lucius the matchmaker? LOL

Probably the UST was getting to Lucius!
Ahh, how wonderfully romantic. Brilliant stuff.. I am grinning like a loon!

*pictures grin* thank you!
Thank you for such a truly gorgeous tale. You painted the scene so vividly, I could almost smell the lavender and feel the heat of the sun. Well done!

Thank you - wish I could smell my rain-sodden lavender at the moment!
Smutty and moving in one essay, brilliant.
Response from Persevero (Author of Lavender)
Thank you. That's what I was aiming at!
This is great! If I close my eyes I can almost smell the lavendar and hear the bees buzzing. Ah, summer love. Very well done, perfect length and well written.
