Sometimes writing, nearly always beta reading, I love to unwind after work by reading fanfiction.

Poor Petunia. It's hard to hate her knowing how hard it must have been to see her sister have something, be a part of something she wanted so badly. Well done :)
I could see Petunia doing something like that. And getting more bitter as a result. Nicely done.
Awe such a trick to play on her sister! Lily was naive to think that her magic wouldn't register. Cute that Sev and Lily brewed a potion to be invisible.
FUnny that Petunia still wanted to have powers but sad that she doesn't. Maybe that's why she resents Harry, or one reason.
Well done, well done. It sounds very like Petunia, in her attitude and actions both. And almost makes me feel a bit sorry for her, until I remember the way she treated Harry for so many years! But the disappointment she must have felt must have been bitter indeed.
I almost wished for Petunia to have at least a little bit of magic. You portrayed her wish for power really well.

Thanks. I think most of us found a stick or a mixing spoon and waved it around as a child. But to have to live with it at such a vulnerable time of life must have been a terribly overwhelming experience. I think she must have dealt with it the only way she felt she could.
Oh, I heart this. Petunia is such a bigoted shrew, that I really almost wanted her to have a bit of magic so she'd learn to respect it (not that it seemed to be going that direction), but it was most cruel what Lily and Severus did to her. And then her modern day throw pillow didn't move. -crush- But, I'm not feeling too sorry for her. Evil woman. I enjoyed this so much, thank you. AV

Thanks. It's always lovely to see the stars, but especially to see a thoghtful review.
Poor Petunia. I wanted it to work! :)

I kind of did, too. Thanks.
Despite her saying she wished so much to be like her sister. For the first time I ache for her.

Thanks. That's one thing I like about the HP books: it's hard not to feel sympathy for even the unsympathetic characters because they are so well-rounded.
I almost feel bad for Petunia not being able to do magic like Lily and Severus. I can imagine how different her life would have been if she, too, were gifted with similar powers.

Have you read DebJunk's Time's Treasure? It's probably my favorite story that includes Petunia learning magic.Alas, this Petunia was just the victim of Severus' cruelty and Lily's naivete.
Aw, I actually feel sorry for her. And I was almost as sure as she was that the first flick was real.

Thanks. In the first draft it was, and I had this whole thing about childhood and adulthood in a very CS Lewis kind of way, but it didn't really work. I'm glad to evoke an emotion :)
This one is amazing. You've captured Petunia's secret hopes and sour grapes very well.

Thanks. I did a little with Petunia in "In Defense" before I, unfortunately, lost momentum with it.
