Snape patrols, and finds Luna precisely where she is not meant to be. Bathed in light, chalk in hand. Written for Miss_Morland for the 2009 Snuna exchange.

Reviews for As to a Portrait, Gently Drawn
Beautiful. The writing is concise, but full, loaded with emotion and imagery. Subtle but clear, like the characters themselves-- Severus in a sharp way, Luna more thoughtfully. Sweet, sad, and ultimately reassuring. Thank you for this lovely piece.

You've perfectly captured both of these characters and surrounded them with your beautiful writing. Your words are always perfect, every time you write. This is a pairing that I really like, but only when they are handled really, really well. And you've done just that. Fabulous story.
Wow that made me teary eyed. This story is perfect in its simplicity and wonderfully beautiful. Thank you.

Thank you so much! This was my first Snuna. I'm delighted you enjoyed it... thanks for reviewing!
This story moved me to tears, which is significant, given that I can count the number of films that have produced the same reaction on one hand and the number of books on the other. There's such haunting beauty in the way you've portrayed Snape's death, with the Tivkas coming to comfort him, and gently guide him into the next world. I also love stories in which Luna manages to see right through Snape's loyal Death Eater act. Out of all of Harry's circle of friends, she seems the most likely to have figured out what was really up, as she's extremely perceptive. I think you've done justice to all the nuances of both characters in this story. I especially love that you pay homage to Luna's artistic talents, something that's frequently overlooked in fanfic, it seems. Thanks for writing this story!

. :) What a wonderful, thoughtful review. I do see Luna as someone who doesn't get distracted by the peripheral details. Once I saw Luna through an artist's lens, the whole story fell together... I'm delighted it worked for you, and especially that it moved you so strongly. *hands you tissues
The way you paint an image is... special. Clear, and a bit unusual. Lines like, "curious eyes scanning for something only she seeks," where you turn at the last minute from cliche to interesting, or "silver memory and scarlet blood spilling from him," where the colors are so crisp and alive in the mind's eye, are what make this story worth reading. More than worth reading, they set it apart. Excellent job.

Thank you... turning something from a cliche to something interesting is just what I'm hoping for. I'm pretty visual in how I think about the world, so it's good to hear that this comes through and works in my storytelling. Thank you! I hope you enjoy my other work, too :)
Loved this on the Exchange where, as a matter of fact, I read it just last night for a second time. Truly beautiful writing. Am very much looking forward to meeting you at Azkatraz.

Wow. I haven't really read any Luna/Snape, but based on that I'm going to. Beautifully written.
