Oh wow. This is such a good story. Are you going to do more with it?
Response from Melenka (Author of Blood Stone)
Thank you! I plan to use the idea in a YA novel, if I ever get through my list of projects! I expect to start working on it in a year of so. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. :)
more, more, please more, this is awesome, i feel like subscribing to your writing so i can read it the moment you publish and boast that i was the first one to read your story. Awesome

Oh, thank you so much! This one is simmering. For a little while, I thought it would boil over, but it agreed to sit on the back burner until my latest WIP is at least in some way complete. And, of course, the story will have to change if I'm to make it longer. It would hardly do to reveal the big secret up front, would it?

too true, i look forward to reeding more eagerly!!!
very intriguing and mysterious. i agree, it rather calls for more. though i suspect the more would likely end badly. :(one thing: He gaze moved past the creature, knowing what he would see. i'm sure you mean either his gaze moved past or he gazed past. :)

Thank you for the lovely review. :)As the story seems unwilling to let me go, I believe there will be more. I wonder why you think it would end badly. After all, if the girl falls in love of her own accord, the curse is broken and there's a happily ever after... Then again, what are the chances of that? I guess we'll both have to wait to find out how it ends!Thank you for the correction. See what happens when you work without a net?

ah, i guess i didn't totally get that if she fell in love it could be happy - i just assumed that then somehow he wouldn't love her back. (you can tell what most of my romances have been like! lol!) am very excited that there will probably be more so you can make it all clear for my (romance-impaired??) brain.the moment i became validated, i recruited a second beta. need lots of nets. :D
OMG! This is Awsome! Please say there is more!...It kind of reminds me of Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Masters Series, at leaset it has the same kind of Flow like her works. I look forward to reading more!

Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed it. At the moment, there is no more, but it may morph into a short novel soon. It's rather insistent about expanding and I might have to give in. :)
Ohhhh. Creepy. So the only way she can be protected from falling in love with the young man with the auburn curls and the curse is to wear the jewel for all of her days from this birthday on. Brilliant! It's a very interesting plot, and I'd love to see it played out if you ever decided to.Beth

Well, all her days until she marries another, anyway. There is no way to guarantee she would fall in love with him if she took it off, but she certainly won't if she wears it. And he will do nothing to persuade her to take it off. He may be cursed, but he is honorable. Thanks for your review. I am considering writing a YA urban fantasy novel based on this idea, though I would obviously not reveal the information about the curse at the beginning. :)
ohh, shiney!this has potentialwill there be more?if it doesn't feel like a story to you, mabe more shorts?*does her cutest imitation of a hungry kitten*lovelythank you

Thank you! I suspect that this will turn into a YA book, once I finish my current WIP. I am glad you found it intriguing!
