Like many proud alumni of the honorable Hufflepuff House, ApollinaV is a rabbid Huffle-hugger, champion pear-tickler, and founding member of Cleansweep-Streakers Guild (the AV-Eyeful is so named in her honor). Since graduating Hogwarts, she done 'responsible' and 'professional' things - and resolves not to do that anymore. Dreadful amounts of paperwork.

I'd agree with you on that. And I did some cursory research into Giant Squids before I started working on the prompt, and supposedly they are really intelligent. I like the idea of Verne, and I wished we'd see him in the movies. AV

The prompt gave me them to play with, and I admit I've never really done anything with either of them. They're very much underappreciated characters, but dusting them off and humanizing them was a lot of fun. Thank you. AV
Do I get points for grasping the significance of the squid's name before the author's note?I wonder if Sybill "saw" she would need rescuing that night?? Hummm

I'm not going to theorize on what Sybill did see, or did not see. But I thought it was important that Argus actually believe she was a Seer, and respect her. They both deserve more respect than they get...And kudos on identifying Verne's name! I'm glad someone did. AV
Cool - I liked the Squid's name, and that was a plausible explanation of how a squid came to be in the lake. Trelawney and Filch ... hmmm, never would have thought of that pairing, but somehow you make it work.Nice little tale you've spun here, Apollina. :)

Having Hagrid bring Verne in wasn't that original, but since it was plausable enough I figured it deserved mentioning. Debjunk gave me Filch, Trelawney and Snape to work with, and as much as I love my Severus I just couldn't picture him in a Squid-centric fic. And the more I thought about the underappreciated characters of Argus and Sibyll, the more I liked it. I'm not necessarily convinced of the pairing, but it was fun to write. Thank you m'dear. AV
This was very cleverly written, and I highly approve of the future you've imagined for Mr. and Mrs. Filch! And we all know how very bright squids are! The Giant Squid knows more than most give him credit for, and he is capable of elaborate planning.Beth

They deserve each other, or someone at least. They get abused in canon/fanon, so seeing them happy warms my heart. But I wouldn't have put them together if the prompt hadn't given them to me to play with. And the Giant Squid is cute no matter what. Thanks love! AV

LOL That's wonderful! I totally wasn't expecting something that profound, but it was lovely. And so nice to see Trelawney described in such romantic terms.

Oh, Apollina, just loved it! A meddlesome squid... who would have thought. And I loved the fact that Hagrid was the one who put him there. So very typical!

Yes, Hagrid placing him there was unoriginal, but perfectly reasonable. But a meddling squid was too much fun not to play with. I'm so glad you liked it, the prompt was very fun to play with. And I thoroughly enjoyed working with underappreciated characters. AV
