I can see where there would be a hesitation with Snape on ending his friendship with Lucius if Hermione wasn't accepted.  It's hard ending a friendship no matter the circumstances. I was pleased to see that Hermione stopped him from making that decision.  Very thoughtful of her to do so.

Typically Malfoy tactics: another couple is bickering, so Lucius just says something to put them both on the same side; against him! ...knowing that there's not much danger: a Gryffindor will always compromise rather than be the cause of someone she loves losing his best friends permanently.Then, having found out that the Malfoys had better make a friend of his witch, if they don't want to lose their friend ...they sensibly decide to do just that!Good story, Southern!

I'm glad that Narcissa and Lucius figured out how to meet Severus and Hermione in the middle. 

Lucius and Cissy may not like Hermione, and she don't like them, but for the sake of Severus, they will have to try to get along. It is a pretty bad situation when friends don't like/get along with a person's significant other.

Bravo. I've always seen the Malfoy's as a strong family unit and one that values family as well. I could totally see them wanting Severus and Hermione to stop fighting regardless of the fact that Hermione is, well, herself. lol
