I am a relative newcomer to the world of Harry Potter Fan Fiction. I recently discovered the good 'ship HG/SS, and I've been hooked to the point where it is my OTP.
I was a Ruth Kirschstein NRSA post-doctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. When I am not at the lab bench or in the classroom, I am an organist. I'd be in a church near me, occupying an organ bench, and blowing dust around the nave. (Just kidding.) Currently, I serve as organist/choirmaster for a couple of small Episcopal churches near Duke University.

The Rickman *grin* I wonder what I would think in the same situation. Maybe a therapy would help.

Perhaps so. Thanks for reading and for your review.
This is one of the weirdest prompts I have ever seen... but well done, lyn!

Thanks, HJS! It was a difficult one for me to answer. I'm glad it worked for you. :)
Real people's fics are sooo hard to do (it least I think so) and I felt so sorry for you when you got this prompt. However, you did a very good job with it - emotional and angsty which I liked. XD

I suppose that's why no one wanted to touch Narcissa's prompt about finding Snape at a fan con and meeting his real-life doppelganger. ;)Thanks, I'm glad this worked for you. I was a bit worried about this one, but I'm glad it turned out the way it did.Cheers!
LOL So, Severus Snape is really Severus Rickman is his adpoted name. Why of earth would he take his dad's/murder of his mum's name? Hm? Kinda hard finding ou the truth all these years later.
Response from lyn_f (Author of Adopted)
Maybe because he didn't know any better and didn't think to question anyone about it?I will admit, this was difficult for me to write. I'm glad this worked for you.
Love these little drabble nights you guys put on. Just one aside, shouldn't his name be Severus Rickman? It would be a dead givaway to have a different last name, n'est pas?Poor guy, finding out at his age that he was adopted. They really should have told him from the first. Being adopted myself, I'm glad my parents told me from the minute I could comprehend it.You've got a great basis here for a longer story, and I would enjoy reading more if you decided to expand it.

Perhaps it should be ... but then again, I have a friend who gave his kids different surnames than his own. But then again, perhaps that's common in his culture (this friend is from Bangladesh). You must join us on a Saturday night! The more, the merrier! :)I'm not sure if I'll expand this one ... let's see what the Muse says ... I'm glad you liked it.
I think it was a good answer to the prompt. It can be a very difficult thing. Your fic brought tears to my eyes. *sniff*

Awwww, thank you Stef!*glomps you*I will admit it was not easy to write, but I'm glad it worked for you.

Thanks, irish! :)
You would have to wonder when you looked so different... :)
Response from lyn_f (Author of Adopted)
Indeed ... although it hasn't been unheard of that some features skip a generation ...
I am glad that Severus did get out of that horrid situation with his real parents, but I can only imagine how he feels to find out the truth of his parentage through a letter. Great response the prompt, dear!

Thanks luv! It was not easy to write, I'll have to admit ... but I'm glad you liked it.
