This is such an interesting speculation--I haven't seen the like in any of the postHBP fices I've read.

Good use of Polyjuice Potion as a device. It wouldn't have mattered if Snape didn't kill him as Dumbledore would have died anyhow. I hope Snape kept those memories for later.

Wow. ferv, I must say, that notion had not crossed my mind.  It would certainly explain much though...  We are never told just how Albus' hand came to be burnt and wrecked.  We were shown, through Harr's eyes, Albus sporting the cursed ring/Horcrux on his ruined hand; thus leading to the supposition that the ring had been the cause of his injury.  Your theory opens up an enriching facet to a book I felt rather disappointed in.  My only real question, at the moment, is: How did Dumbledore know that Narcissa and Bellatrix would be calling on Spinners End that evening?
