I am a relative newcomer to the world of Harry Potter Fan Fiction. I recently discovered the good 'ship HG/SS, and I've been hooked to the point where it is my OTP.

I was a Ruth Kirschstein NRSA post-doctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. When I am not at the lab bench or in the classroom, I am an organist. I'd be in a church near me, occupying an organ bench, and blowing dust around the nave. (Just kidding.) Currently, I serve as organist/choirmaster for a couple of small Episcopal churches near Duke University.

I totally agree with you: Organ music in a church is absolutely the most wonderful sound in the world.

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

I suppose that is why I am an organist.  There really is nothing like the sound of the organ in a very resonant church ... or any church for that matter.  Thanks very much for your review!

Response from snitchette (Reviewer)

I suppose that is why I am an organist => lucky you

I love the friendship you've written between these two. Kudos to Severus for spreading the joy of music.

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Thanks, PJ!

i like severus as a music lover, and i liked the  twist that in this piece, he is opening lucius's eyes to something cultural, as lucius is often depicted as the more cultured of the two.  (no link to the music you mention?  you mean i have to look it up myself?)

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Erm ... yeah, I've been quite remiss, haven't I?I guess I'll just have to dig up a link and post it.  I'll revise this post with that link, as well as add one on my LJ.  But I'll do it after my late afternoon service. And ... I'd like to think that Lucius is not the only cultured pearl in the ocean.  Thanks for your review!

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

kitty, just for you:  here is a YouTube link to Olivier Latry playing "Dieu parmi nous":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OGDZDfSIgM

I knew that Lady in the Cloak had to be involved here somehow! I've felt that with music, and you captured it beautifully. Thanks for sharing!

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Naturally!  It's her prompt, after all.  Thanks for reviewing!

I remember that song (though when I heard it I found it frightening)!I must have my slash goggles on because when I read this drabble I got the impression that Lucius and Severus were more than friends "...Severus came up behind Lucius and murmured in his ear, “It’s amazing, isn’t it?...."  Tee hee!

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Heh heh heh.  It's ambiguous enough that you can think whatever you want to think of it.As far as I'm concerned - I'm just there for the music. Thanks for your review!

Oh, what I wouldn't have given to have gone with them!  I mean, to hear that music, of course. So what happened after?

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Heh heh heh ... that, my dear, is left to your own imagination.  Thanks for your review.

Lovely.  Just shows that magic isn't always needed to make things wonderful.  *sigh*Stef

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Thanks, Stef!

Ooh, Secius roadtrip! Always fun, and thanks for reminding Lucius muggles aren't duffers.

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Heh heh heh.  Lucius does need the reminder from time to time that People are people so why should it be ... Muggles and Wizards should get along so awfully ....sorry, just a bit of modified Depeche Mode there ...

Thank you for a lovely story!  Few people realize the majesty of the "King of Instruments", and I can well imagine Lucius' snobbery being somewhat blown away as he encounters what is, indeed, ethereal in its beauty and power.  I've always imagined Severus as being one to truly appreciate that which is of highest quality in all things, and that includes music as well, so it was fun to see him in such a different but fitting setting.  Thank you!

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Thanks for your detailed review, CM!  I've also imagined Severus to appreciate beauty in art (although he doesn't always show it), and I'm working on a short story now in which he and Hermione find healing through music. Thanks again!

Absolutely gorgeous take on the prompt! I really enjoyed it.

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Squeee!  Thanks so much, LITC! *glomps you*

Response from lyn_f (Author of Resonance)

Oh, and I'll have to add - thanks for that prompt; I had a *wonderful* time writing this piece.  ladyinthecloak's response: I'm so glad you enjoyed writing it! It's sometimes not easy finding a prompt to fit someone, and some people do really well with something out of the blue. I tend to do better when I'm given one that's kind of tailor-made, and I was curious how you would write a prompt like that. You surely created a beautiful little tale here! :)
