Could it be that the time has come at last for the snarky, cold-hearted Potions master to finally consider retirement?

I'm way too old to be visiting sites like this (dare I admit to forty-something!) but my love of all things Severus Snape/Alan Rickman keep me addicted! Poor health keeps me from working and at home all day and gives me too many excuses to read/write fan fiction in an attempt to keep me sane. I have two lovely sons, and an even lovelier hubby, to try and keep me on the 'straight and narrow'. And, now, they're aided in that task by the more recent addition to our family of two beautiful black, male, kittens - Merlin and Mesmer! (I wanted to call them both Alan Rickman-related names, so, naturally, one was very nearly 'Severus'... Unfortunately, my family drew the line at that particular wizard so I had to be a bit more subtle - hence Mesmer [as in Franz Anton for those not familiar with the AR film, 'Mesmer']; the name also happens to be short for mesmerising!) ;-)
I have a few stories (and poems) posted at Occlumency, under the same pen name as here, and have gradually been expanding on my repertoire both here and there over the last two or three years. Despite claiming to be in 'fanfic retirement' of recent times, I now find myself with newer additions on Ashwinder, Fanfiction.net and Granger Enchanted where I go by the names of Sevvy253 or Sevvysgirl/Sevvysgirl253. However, this site retains the most complete listing of all my work to date.
I also have an account on DeviantArt - http://sevvysgirl.deviantart.com/
where I am gradually starting to display some of my artwork 'attempts'! :-)
And - finally - I'm being totally shameless in promoting my own new shop on Etsy! Here is the link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/sevvy253?ref=si_shop
I'm only just starting up, so stock is limited at the moment, but I'm hoping I will go on to bigger (and better) things. From little acorns, and all that ... Please feel free to pop by from time to time to see what changes may be in store (no pun intended!)

I loved your depiction of a slightly mellowed version of Severus who is still as sexy as ever!Glad to discover this story. I am new to this site and it continues to give me pleasant surprises!
That was beautiful. And I really like the last paragraph. Thank you for writing this.

Thank you for reviewing! This was the first fic I ever posted on this site so it's always lovely to get a review after such a long time! So glad you enjoyed it. :-)
Oh well done sevvy. I love this glimpse into Severus's post war life. I think you have it spot on; it really felt very canon Snape as I read. "double-agent extraordinaire" indeed. I laughed at your phrase "he-who-can-now-safely-be-named-if-you-can-be-bothered".I like to imagine he has some significant other waiting for him back in the dungeon, but even if he does, he's still Snape after all, and nothing would take away his penchant for catching would be transgressors roaming the Hogwarts corridors in the middle of the night, Bless him for leaving the door ajar though. He's an old softy under that hard exterior.A place in Tuscanny? Lucky Snape - and lucky Mrs Snape if there is one. I expect they spend their summers roaming olive groves and vineyards, and drinking wine, (elf made of course).I hope you write more - this had a lovely poignant yet humorous feel to it.

Wow, how lovely to get another review after all this time! Thanks so much

(lovely to hear from you again - and great to see you've visited this site!)I'm so glad you liked my little 'one-shot'; I'm afraid I lacked the confidence (not to mention time) to post a lengthy tale here but fully intend to someday - I have a number of things already written so I'm sure I will get round to it - eventually! So many people write about our dear Potions master post-war as going off and doing all sorts of things but I personally think he would have no choice but to return to his old life and old ways. Many people have commented that it's a shame that he doesn't have someone waiting for him but (as I have pointed out many times) I've not actually said that! I leave that to the readers imagination! Again, my own personal take is, that there most definitely would be someone but, being such a private person, he's not going to shout about that from the rooftops!I heard that AR had a place in Tuscany (I went there a few years ago myself - Tuscany that is, not AR's place; that would have been interesting!!) and that's just a nod to him really as for me AR is Snape and vice a versa!Once again, thanks so much for reviewing. I hope you will become a convert to this great site! :-)
Response from hexgirl (Reviewer)
I most certainly am a convert to this site. I have to thank you for recommending it. I will certainly look out for your next endeavour if there is one. And who knows I may even pluck up the courage to post my own self indulgent Snape fics. For a moment there I thought you were telling me you had visited AR's place in Tuscanny and I was about to send out waves of envy. Thanks again for a lovely one shot.
i finally had some time to do some leisure reading and thought i would check out something of yours. i like this very much. your characterization is spot on. :)

Thank you so much for reviewing this story - I'm so glad you liked it!You may like to know that I'm currently posting my latest 'attempt' (well actually a fic I wrote some long while ago) entitled Don't Stand So Close. It's up to Chapter 3 at present, with Chapter 4 and the Epilogue in the queue.I'm not really trying to self-promote, but I would certainly be honoured, if you find yourself with any more spare time, to hear your viewpoint on it. As a relatively new writer, I really love to hear from the 'established' authors on this site whose work I admire.OK, enough 'crawling' from me - thanks again for the review! :-)
Severus baking apple pie? That would be a sight. And I'm sure he would get bored and hex the passers by in the end. Better give detentions and try to infuse some good sense into those dunderheads of students. Nice job.
Response from Sevvy (Author of Hide and Seek)
My sentiments exactly! One of the reasons I wrote this little piece was to try and express that Severus would stay as Severus no matter what. If JKR had allowed him the privilege of living, it would be lovely to think that he could be 'tamed' by the attentions of a woman in his life (unfortuantely I'm spoken for so that's not likely now *winks*!) but, ultimately, he would go back to Hogwarts & carry on teaching in the same old way, I feel sure.Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! As a 'first timer' on this site I really appreciate all the lovely comments I've been getting. :-)
This was wonderful:){[hugs}}Fizzabella

Yay, glad you posted this here. You know I love this piece./M

Why thank you my dear friend - you are too kind! Quite like old times suddenly isn't it!! :-)
Oh I wish he picked her up and gave her a cuddle! Snape and cats makes me ga-ga :) Lovely job Sevvy.
Response from Sevvy (Author of Hide and Seek)
I agree with that, especially as I have always imagined my own animagus to be a cat (*winks*)! And I could most certainly do with a cuddle from dear Sev right now (or any time for that matter!) BTW: Nice to see (or rather hear from) old friends! I've missed not seeing your work on other sites in recent times. Thanks for this review! :-)
Response from star_girl (Reviewer)
The dear professor reminds me of a stalking panther, sleek and lithe. I know it's not the same but I'm sending you a hug anyway! As for my writing, well the muse has abandoned me again. I have a few ideas but nothing is really pulling me to write it, if you know what I mean. Maybe I am spent? Maybe the well is dry? Wahhhh!
What wonderful characterization! If SHE had allowed Snape to live, this might be canon! I am so impressed with this.I am delighed by his half-hearted musing about living in a retirement community or a picture-postcard cottage with fresh baking to lure in the passer-by. so funny. Nice to know he has a little Italian place, so the pay must not be too bad. This is a very in-character Snape. No sexy wife or girlfriend awaiting him in his quarters, the people he gave his life to have forgotten him. I love this! Excellent work! I hope you publish more stuff!
Response from Sevvy (Author of Hide and Seek)
Thank you so much - what a lovely review! I have posted this story elsewhere and it's funny how everyone assumes I'm implying our poor Sev has no one to love him! My take on it is that, as he's such a private person, there probably is someone but he never lets on!Being a total Rickmaniac myself, I can only ever see Mr. Rickman playing him and my nod to him is that he has a place in Tuscany (I was so near it once and never knew - damn!!) so I kind of slipped that in!But, I must also add here, that my other way of looking at things is that he would, most definitely have been forgotten and not been hailed as a war hero. Whatever, his outcome may have been though, he most certainly did not deserve to die at the fangs of Nagini!BTW: I have many more stories already lined up (and some poems already on Occlumency) in which he clearly is involved with someone; I'm a sucker for romance I'm afraid!
I really enjoyed that. I'd love to read more stories of yours, if you decide to keep writing.
Response from Sevvy (Author of Hide and Seek)
Thank you so much. I'm new to this site but have posted a few things over at Occlumency as well and have a number of things in the pipeline. It's just a case of finding the time to post now!
Excellent characterization - really enjoyed your work - thanks for sharing!
Response from Sevvy (Author of Hide and Seek)
Thank you for your very kind review!
Awww. Its adorable. And except for the apple pie bit, totally canon :)
Response from Sevvy (Author of Hide and Seek)
Yeah, I somehow can't imagine Snape baking apple pie! Nor living in a pretty thatched cottage for that matter but the thought of such is quite fun, I think! Thanks for your review :-)
Such a fine and snarky example of a man should never doubt himself. *devilish grin* His thought process was lovely. Very compelling. Long live snark!!
Response from Sevvy (Author of Hide and Seek)
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I'm new to this site and this is my first story here so I'm especially grateful! I agree that Severus should never doubt himself and I guess we'd all agree that he wouldn't be Severus without the snarkiness! :-)
Response from rhiannon113 (Reviewer)
Welcome aboard! I've been on the site for a while now, but only just recently posted my first story. =] I hope you write many more in the future!
