Reviews for Death Shall Have No Dominion
I had to revisit this and not so surprisingly, it still has the same stark, amazing impact from the first time I read it when you first posted.

Aw, thank you! It's been so long since I've written fic. I am touched you came back to it and glad you enjoyed it the second time around!
Argh! I was hoping for more. You've left me with a tantalizing teaser.

I am notorious for open endings. I like to think the reader can follow the path to new and interesting ideas that start with "what if?". Thank you again for reading. It means a lot to me.

My beloved enemy...Yeah, I've got one of those. Haven't yanked his chain in years. Hmmm.Honestly, I love this. I've always seen Sirius as needing two intelligent, diverse personalities to balance his mad-cap genius. In canon, he had James and Remus. He tried to replace James with Harry at times and that so did not work. Here, you've given him Severus and Hermione. A much better foil in my opinion. Combined with that delicious bit of backstory you just teased us with, he couldn't let Severus die, now could he.I think Severus was absolutely right to be wary. There may be no life debt, but I can't see Sirius allowing Severus peace unless he resolves things with Hermione to his liking. This past week has been absolute crap for me and the next isn't looking any better, so this was a wonderful treat to stumble upon.May I beg shamelessly for another piece in this universe to be written some time? *grins*

I'm glad I'm not the only one with an arch-nemesis. They can be such fun.I am so glad this story brought a little happiness into your world. I hope the next week surprises you by being better than expected. :)Your take on Sirius is quite astute. And he can't let Severus go. He's not done with him yet. Besides, Hermione deserves the chance to figure out what to do with Severus and, if nothing else, Sirius would find that process amusing.I tend to write fic in between original works, so there is a distinct possibility that I'll revisit this place, but I don't know that it will be soon. I'm just over a quarter through the current novel and it's being stubborn. But keep hope. It's a useful thing in dark places. ;)aeron's response: I almost forgot - Sirius' sequence on almost dead reminded me - 'He was only ‘MOSTLY dead, see there's a difference between mostly dead, and all dead.’ ‘Now, mostly dead is slightly alive. Now, all dead...well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing that you can do… Go through his clothes and look for loose change.’ - The Princess BrideOne of my all-time favorites. One of these days, I'll get started on your original fiction. I'm adding it to my list of must reads now.
What a wonderful follow up to "Just a Little Bit!" The history shared by Severus and Sirius explains much. I hope you will revisit this thread at some future date and give us a peek at the relationship between Severus and Hermione... if there is a future for them in your world.I've thoroughly enjoyed reading "Just a Little Bit" and "Death Shall Have No Dominion" back-to-back!! Thank you for this.Beth

Thank you for coming along on the journey! I know the afterward does not make much sense without having read Just a Little Bit, so I appreciate you taking the time to read both. :)
Nice follow up, Melenka. It explains a little more about Severus and Sirius' past relationship and hints at more to come. All without thats or commas! :)

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't resist the challenge, and it lent itself to the way they interact.
A rather confusing fic....so, Severus is to go after Hermione....
Response from Melenka (Author of Death Shall Have No Dominion)
Much less confusing if you've read Just a Little Bit. It doesn't stand alone very well, which is why I mentioned it being a follow up. :)
What a fantastic treat this is. Not only that-free and commaless, but a really original twist. Brilliant!

I am humbled by your praise, my lady. I am delighted that you found it entertaining. Thank you for your kind words.
my first thought upon seeing this was - show off! combining the comma-free and that-free challenges into one. :P and you did it beautifully, of course, as always. a very unexpected and original solution to how severus survived. i love how you imply all this rich history between them, but you only give hints about it. only now you've got me all intrigued and i might have to pick up just a little bit again, to learn just a little bit more about what transpired between them.
Response from Melenka (Author of Death Shall Have No Dominion)
Not showing off. I only had one idea. The rest of my work tends to be original and therefore would not comply with the challenge rules. ;) I am glad this pleased you, as that is a huge compliment in my world.
Wow. I'm trying to write an intelligent review here, but I'm blown away by the depth of emotions you captured - so raw, so passionate. I FUCKING LOVE IT!!What a clever twist to give us (ahem) just a little bit about their past encounter, adding yet another layer to their complex history and relationship. Excellent how it enriches the attitudes they displayed in the original story. Some view love and hate as being on opposite ends of the spectrum, but I'm more inclined to think they're more closely related than others would care to admit. I honestly don't think you can experience hatred that intense unless you've also shared love of equal intensity. You know what else I really liked about this? The multiple references Sirius made to Hamlet. I hadn't considered it the first time I read your story, but I like the correlation here. I can see Sirius as our favorite prince of Denmark: Priveleged, yet grievously wronged by his family (and how 'bout those mother issues!) ... Outwardly flippant, yet tortured inside. Regretful of rash, youthful choices. Given enough thought (and another cup of coffee), I could probably identify some Ophelia traits in Sirius's relationship with Hermione. And how easily I could picture your Sirius engaging in witty discourse with the gravedigger from Hamlet.Anyway, lots more than that to like about this story. I love how you brought Severus back to life (I doubted his survival after reading JaLB). And I adore the way you cast a shadow on the war/final battle solving everything. It makes me yearn for MORE, though! What threats will still remain ... How will Severus be needed ... How much longer can Sirius last??? Damn you, Melenka, you big tease. Honestly, I have to say reading this made me a bit wistful ... You brought me right back into a story I adored and gave me a lovely taste of something I remembered so well ... It was like going home and eating my mom's homemade bread pudding. But now I have to leave, and the pudding never tastes as good when I make it, and I haven't any notion of when I'll be allowed to visit again. Le sigh.

This may be the best review anyone has ever gotten in the history of reviews. LOL. I am glad this vignette pleased you. And yes, Sirius and Hamlet could easily be drinking buddies, what with all that angst and humor warring for supremacy. Glad you get the close relationship between love and hate. I'm not sure they would give up either, because they're both perverse that way.
A bit confusing so I had to do a second time through. Sirius is alive or a ghost? if he's a ghost, how could he have helped Severus up? If he's not, why hasn't he been breaking the rules and runnig around playing knight if f-cking armor, trying to play with Harrry? I get the Sev/Lily, Sev/Sirius and Severus/Hermione bit, but what is this other 'spell' ane the 'power?'
Response from Melenka (Author of Death Shall Have No Dominion)
This is a follow up to Just a Little Bit, in which Sirirus has been brought back through the veil and he, Severus, and Hermione are stuck in Grimauld Place for a week or so. No one save select Order members knows Sirius has returned, and as he is relatively sure his time on this side of the veil is short, he is not going to traumatize Harry by suddenly showing up, only to disappear yet again. Oh, and since Sirius slipped his leash, both the Order and the Ministry would very much like to get their hands on him, so contacting anyone is extremely risky for him.The spell is extremely complex, so reading Just a Little Bit would be a better idea than me trying to explain it here. Fair warning, though. There is physics AND magic involved. And a fair amount of smut. :)
Truly fascinating concept. I love the way the relationships are interwoven, and there are such complex layers of emotion. Truly lovely.

Thank you very much! Relationships are convoluted things, especially when they've had over 20 years to develop. I am glad you enjoyed this story.
