You know, about ten years ago, my grandfather died. He  and I were very close. We always talked about everything together, no secrets. Like, if he caught me smoking in my younger years, he'd ask if I needed a light. That kind of thing. My grandma gave me his knife--the one he always carried at this  side. Well, I used it to carve a heart and his name, Lee, into my arm. I was so numb, I thought it would make me feel again. This poem reminds me of that. So... it touches me, as I feel I've been there. Cheers!

I started cutting when I was in 6th grade... at the end of 10th grade my best friend found out, so I tried to stop.  After not cutting for one month, I really wanted the release I use to get from it. She put a pen in my hand and a paper in front of me. Told me to write instead, and thats what came out.
