House Colours
Chapter 1 of 1
morgaine_dulacEven Severus Snape wears socks. But when he starts wearing coloured socks, his colleagues get concerned.
ReviewedIt was a quarter to eight on Friday morning. Dumbledore had called the Heads to his office for an emergency staff meeting, and they had all come, all except the Head of Slytherin House. Severus Snape was not there because he had not been called. Severus Snape was not there because this emergency staff meeting was about him.
‘I suppose you all know why we are here,’ Dumbledore said in a grave tone.
McGonagall nodded. ‘This is terrible, Albus. On Saturday, we all thought he was doing it to support the Slytherin Quidditch team. We have seen him in green robes before. Slytherin green socks didn’t seem too bad.’
‘And then the blue ones on Monday,’ Flitwick took over. ‘I thought the elves might have made a mistake. Those socks were dark blue, after all. Ravenclaw blue. Almost black.’
‘But then on Wednesday …’ Sprout’s voice was shaking. ‘Albus it was terrible. Yellow! He was wearing bright Hufflepuff yellow socks. Oh, Albus! What is wrong with Severus?’
‘I am afraid he is losing his marbles,’ Dumbledore said, stroking his beard. ‘It is no surprise, really. He has been working as a spy for almost two years now. He has endured countless Crucios by the hand of the Dark Lord. And I think he has not had a full night’s sleep in months. I am afraid he has snapped.’
Sprout started to sob. And McGonagall, who had hurried to her colleague’s side to comfort her, also had tears running down her cheeks.

Down in the dungeons, Severus Snape stood in front of the mirror, smirking. He had pulled up his robes and was admiring his socks: Gryffindor red socks, with tiny golden Snitches embroidered on them. Yes, they were perfect!
He let his robes fall, fixed his best scowl on his face and left the dungeons, ready to complete the task he had set himself a week ago.
Swooping down on students and scaring them half to death was a pleasant enough pastime. But what he had had to endure lately seemed to entitle him to more fun than that.
And messing with the minds of his colleagues was just the beginning.
I totally blame my students for this! The little dunderheads gave me seven pairs of coloured socks for Christmas. Ha! As if I needed colour in my life. *proudly wraps her black cloak around her and stomps out of the dungeon ... um, office*

LOL, I love seeing stories that show his sense of humor. Colored socks are perfect way to mess with the minds of everyone around him.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
Thank you for the birthday wishes!A sevikins!story? Oh my, tell me what that is exactly and I might just write one for you.
Response from salvamea (Reviewer)
oh? really?well, I see two options for a s!story.one: he is bantered by this enemies, the Great Marauders.Or second:he has a very girlish girlfriend or a (one-sided) girl in love with him. of the Lavender - type. fan goupie, stalker...whose affection he could hate or love, dunno.be it in his old school days or later as an adult. or much later when the world is what it should be - after the war.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
Oh, I like the idea of a Lavender-like girlfriend ... let me think about it, hehe
Response from salvamea (Reviewer)
wow!! greatgreatgreat!!
What a delightfully Slytherin little head game -- loved it. So glad to see that scathing humor of his come out -- we love to write about his dark and tragic side -- but what fun to see this side as well !!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
I like to think that deep down, he's a prankster ;-)Glad you liked this silly little piece.Happy New Year. /M
A lovely drabble. You made my day start with a smirk!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
That's a very healthy way to start the day ;-)Cheers. /M
I loved that. Isn't it always the simple and most innocent of things which can unsettle the balanced mind... lol. And what a subtle revenge! :DI will tackle the bigger stories when the kids have gone back to school; at the minute, my time is split between fixing lego statues, rescuing the chocolate from resourceful toddlers, finding homes for all their pressies, and general tidying up. :DTake care
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
Wow! That thing you describe, is that what's called 'a real life'? ;-)See you next year! Take care./M
Response from sweetflag (Reviewer)
'A real life'? Hmmm... It has be real because if it was a fantasy, then the house would be spotless and the kids would be asleep by eight! But it is fun, and it gives me plenty of fodder for stories. It also fills in the gaps between fanfiction fixes :D
HEHEHE. That's very funny. I recognize Severus very well in this little prank.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
I really think that deep down, he is a prankster ;-)Glad you liked the little story. /M
Of course, the first thing that the faculty thinks is that Snape has lost all sense of reason. Very funny. You can't blame the man for getting in a good laugh now and then.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
Don't know why, but messing with the other teachers just seems so him. And he would sure need a good laugh now and then.Cheers. /M

*mwahaha* That's brilliant, simply brilliant! *sniggers* WHAT an idea - the socks for you as well as the story and Severus's idea... *wipes tears from eyes*
Author's Response: hehe, glad it made you laugh!
Cheers. /M
Haha, what a great way of scaring them! Teehee! An intriguingly silly idea!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
Gotta love silly ;-)Cheers. /M
Ha ha ha! That's great! My husband, who by the way has a PhD in Chemistry, (can't get much closer to a potions master than that and he has his share of snarky moments) used to always wear red socks when he was working on his PhD because he went to Princeton U which is a very snotty school and he knew the red sock thing would annoy them.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
Ha! My husband's name has the Latin root 'Severus'. I'd say I'm closer ;-)But I like your husband's red socks!!Glad you liked my little stroy.Happy New Year! /M

Ahem..I share a love of socks with A. Dumbledor and sometimes wonder about why others would think it odd. Love your take on this unusual quirk. Yes it is very Snape-like to mess around with his fellow teachers minds. Good work!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of House Colours)
So Snape ... so ME ... hehe
ROFL. And I thought the days of the week socks I gave my 18 and 19 yr old sons were funny! :)
