Snape fancier, wanton researcher of the arcane and sublime, and snark mistress.
Blanket disclaimer: the Potterverse was created by J.K. Rowling -- I just like to play with her toys.

Life is a series of small exchanges, no?Thank you :)
Courageous Neviile, courageous Severus! Brava! Thank you.

My two favorite characters. :D Thank you!
Oh, goodness. Oh, I liked this so much. Neville is one of my absolute favourites - a character that kept his his dignity through the entire series and grew so much. I love how you've portrayed him here: how you show his courage and the way he sees much more than anyone ever gives him credit for. And the way you wove in a nice little tidbit about life at Hogwarts during the year of war was great, as well! (The part about how they were keeping a Hufflepuff outside her common room...) Snape's lines were spot on, too. It's rare for me to like a drabble this much, but yours almost made me tear up. :) Thank you for sharing!

I adore Neville, too - second only to Snape. I'm pleased you enjoyed this so much - I've done a lot of thinking (which always goes without saying, LOL) about Hogwars that last year, and I have a lot of notes that I'll eventually incorporate into a fic-in-the-pipeline that I look forward to beginning once I get some of my due-date commitments done. Thank you very much for such a lovely review!!
Nice piece! I liked this little snapshot.

Thank you!! :)
An intense moment between these two it is. I'm glad Neville can recognize Snape is in his side despite apearances.

I think Neville is--and always was--keener than he was given credit for. In that situation I think he would have figured it out, I really do. It took him the whole year, after all, to grow that sizeable backbone that he used to face Moldy Voldy and kill Nagini!
It's too bad that the students didn't really realize what he had done for them.

I like to think in time, between the accounts of the DA and Harry's trip through Snape's memories, it all would have come out in the end to allow the man to shine as he deserved.Hope springs eternal, at any rate... Thank you for the review!

Yes, I agree with you, but it would have been even nicer if they had an inkling of what he really represented during the whole Headmaster thing.
I really like this tale. I think Neville came out of his shell in his seventh year and was able to shine as the natural leader that he is, once Harry and Hermione were gone. I love your take on this.

Thank you very much - and thank you for your email with the story information, I look forward to taking a look when I find my sanity (I know it's here somewhere... wrapped, maybe?)

Neville gets it. Excellent!
Response from juniperus (Author of Almost)
Oh yes! I have always given Neville credit for seeing and understnding much more than his peers (and teachers, as well) gave him! Thank you!
Oh, wonderful.Makes me happy to see that at least someone understood that Snape was trying to protect his students.Thank you for this little piece.Happy Holidays. /M

:) I'm certain that if anyone would have seen through him, it would have been Neville - I think he was much brighter and more observant than anyone gave him credit for, and he knew Snape like no other (perhaps not for the best of reasons, but that seems immaterial in the middle of war, eh?)
what an insightful little snippet. and there you go, making my heart kind of well up with this tiny little treat. :)
Response from juniperus (Author of Almost)
