A Celtic heart residing in Denver in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains,I've been posting fictions for about a year now and have met some wonderful new friends, including an outstanding beta.
Professionally I'm the Operations Director of a modern dance ensemble, and personally the proud mother of two wonderful daughters.
Those of you who read my works know my passion for the beauty and power of language -- it is my goal to lure the reader into the story -- invoking powerful images, and waking the magic of the tale in their hearts. Much like a potion, I hope to bewitch and ensnare. I VERY MUCH appreicate reviews and critiques. Very helpful to see what my readers are thinking. Currently working on an epic piece and am so happy that so many of you are becoming immersed in it, and are also saying you like my shorter pieces as well. It's an honor to be in the company of some incredible writers - and readers as well !!

You've sucked me in. I can't wait to see where you take this.

This story has a mind of its own and will take all of us where it desires - I am only the humble teller of the tale.Thank you for joining me!!
Another beautiful chapter. Excellent incorporation of mythology and herbal healing. Enjoying this fic so much!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Thank you so much !! This piece requires me to do my "potions" homework -- assuming there are readers who have a familiarity with herbal healing, I am trying to be as accurate in those descriptions and remedies as possible. I wouldn't want Severus looking down his nose at me and chiding me for being "incompetent" especially since it's his healing at stake. Ye gods - the preesure !
hmm...Does Draco know? Does he remember?
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
He's still in a fog certainly - and now he's starting a journey with a guide he may find quite unnerving. So pleased to know you've rejoined the tale !!

God A'mighty, woman! I'm so happy to see you I could kiss you. I've missed you so much, and now here you are! And with a short chapter, to be sure, but also one that is heavy with clues.
If Draco's companion really is Nagini, she may become a valuable ally in bringing Neirin back from the void, back to his friends and his home. I'd wager her life story would be every bit as convoluted and harrowing as Neirin's. There must a vast trove of memories, long forgotten by most of today's folk. The secrets she has with in her mind may hold the key to our Potions Master's resurrection.
I am so glad to be able to reconnect with the characters in these places. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this chapter. You've really made my day, Moira.
Hugs you, Beth

With your beautiful prose you have woven an intricate tapestry of the most delicate threads that have ensnared my heart and my mind. For this lover of the old tales and times long gone, Gareth Islwyn is a reader's dream. His innate sense of honor and acknowledgment of the old ways recreate the magic of my childhood. My mother read to us from Grimm's Fairy Tales each night, and my grandfather told us tales of Leprechauns and the wee folk. While we grew up in a thoroughly modern family, we were always reminded of the ancient history and folk tales of our ancestors who came from Ireland and the British Isles.Your depiction of Minerva and Hagrid is exactly how I imagined them, and your description of Severus as a lonely dragon who is only belatedly understood is perfect. I will have to follow you on this journey... I have no other choice. Thank you. Well done! A Thousand Points to Your House.Beth

Dear one - you have brought a wee tear to my eye - there is no greater gift to bestow upon an author than to know their words have touched the heart of their reader. Thank you for giviing me this gift. I am humbled by your praise. Currently I'm on my own journey of discovery about my own Celtic roots - and in a small way I think Severus and I are on the same journey. I hope we both travel well.

I offer my fervent prayer that you and Severus will journey far and wide as you each seek your forebearslPerhaps we shall meet somehere along the way. Be well, travaler.

I am not usually a fan of detailed descriptive writing, but you have not bogged us down with descriptions of mere things. Yet you have carved and painted and sung this beguiling first chapter. I love your depictions of Hagrid and Minerva, they seem spot on to me, and very touching. Thank you for sharing this tale!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
When I was a child, it was the intricate imagery of well told stories that fascinated me and took me out of my circumstances into a place of magic - and that's what I hope to accomplish now with my own works. Thank you so much for your review. I'm glad you like my depictions of Hagrid and Minerva. I thank Jo for creating them, and allowing me to borrow them.

This premise is fascinating.... I can't wait to read more! Gareth is indeed a gift of a character...he seems rather like Dumbledore, but without the manipulation or use of others. Will poor Severus perhaps eventually be aided by some worthy witch in his recovery, or will this be a shipless fic? Just wondering; I'll keep reading either way, you've got my attention hook line and sinker.

So pleased to have ensnared you !! I am greatly enjoying Gareth as well - a man of many facets - much like Severus. Hmnnn.....
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Reviewer)
Hmnnnn.... does that mean we may see a ship? *Curious*
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Now, now gentle reader - you must be patient. And remember, there is more than one kind of ship, yes?
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Reviewer)
True indeed. I shall be patient :)

There's lovely imagery in your writing.I can see Hagrid doing this for Severus as he did it for Harry, and as he did it for Harry when he was a tiny babe also. I liked his references to Severus as an ol' dragon.
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Dear Hagrid - he has sheltered so many in those great arms - Harry, Dumbledore, and now Severus. Thank you for your review - I'm pleased you like Hagrid's peception of Severus as a dragon - fierce, brave - and very lonely, something Hagrid could understand, given his inclination to spend time with creatures no one else would even attempt to get near.

A lovely, intriguing tale. The situation you create around Gareth, as well as his whole personality and being, is quite extraordinary!
I'm very happy to read it over here, too! :D
Author's Response: Thank you dear lady. Thought I'd try to reach some of the readership that does not follow stories on Occlumency. Happy to be posting now to both sites. Many of us cross over onto both - but just in case.....
A multitude of points to your House for encouraging me to TTP - so many wonderful authors here!! Truly raises the bar for me as a writer.
Author's Response:
Apologies to all on this site - I should never answer a review when I'm tired from working on editing a performance program all night - sincerly meant to give praise to TPP not TTP. Oy - my bad. Will hang my head in shame and go home now !!
Alcina vom Steinsberg's response: *giggles* Without your pointing it out, I would have never spotted the mistake. I suppose the praise went where it was meant.
Very intriguing beginning. You are an excellent writer. I look forward to more.

*squeee*! Another chapter! At last! But it's a short one. *pout* Please post another one soon. Please? Please? Pretty please with Severus on top? ^_^

Snerk !! With Severus on top? Well how can I refuse a request like that ???? And I suppose you'd like an extra side helping of Draco as well???? It shall be done, good lady - as soon as possible !!
Response from MsTree (Reviewer)
Welllll, since Lucius is supposedly in Azkaban, I guess I'll have to settle for Draco. ^_^

A wonderful beginning. You have crafted a moving and eloquent chapter full of history, reverence and feeling from all the characters. I like the portrayal of Hagrid's gentle caring and Minerva's anguish of her actions. I can also see that Gareth will be a fascinating subject as well. I look forward to your next posting. Thanks, JoAnne

Thank you so much for your review. You know JK once said Sev was a "gift" of a character. I am hoping that Gareth will be a similar gift for me. Glad you enjoyed the depictions of Hagrid and Minerva too - always felt there was so much about some of Jo's most interesting creations that she just did not elaborate upon in the series.

wow, poor severus.
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Indeed, he's having a rough go at the moment, but as you see Gareth seems confident of his waking, and begiinning to heal - at least in body. The rest will take the support of those committed to breaking Riddle's curse.
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
Gareth seems the only hope. I like this character. I'm looking forward to how it all plays out. I always want Severus to have SOME sort of peace at the end of a story. It doesn't always happen and isn't part of canon, but it just seems so unfair! Amazing how much we can feel for our favorite fictional characters, though.
An utterly fascinating chapter, to a brilliant story. Can't wait to read more.
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Thank you so much - I'm so glad the tale has piqued your interest and pulled you in !!!
You give so much depth to the Characters of Minerva and Hagrid. Its as if Rowling told the childrens story while you tell it from the initiates point of view. More than adult, it is as from one who has a knowing and experience with the magics. You make the characters so much more real. On another note I am getting very curious about who the third secret keeper will be.
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
I am happy to know that readers are enjoying the exploration of the mysticism of magic, and believe me, I'm enjoying the discoveries as well. As for the 3rd keeper, who knows? Perhaps sooner than we think..... I expect our ol' Dumbly already knows..... he just can't resist his knots, can he?
You must be a busy lady these days, I miss seeing your updates. Hopefully you have something in the works soon!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
RL has gotten much more challenging and demanding these days BUT I am currently working on Chapter 11 and hope to have something to my beta in about a week. I'm absolutely eccstatic that you're still with me !!
Mmmn - love the flow of stream of consciousness/unconsciousness although the content leads me through Draco's dark, tormented, desperate sensations/perceptions. I won't ask, although I do wonder if this is some other Unforgiveable curse that Riddle had *infected* poor Draco with as well at some time... or a variant of the Abandonment curse. Love Horace being included and being his usual Slughorn self - want to wring his neck & hug him at the same time! It seems Minerva is quite irked with him as well, but controlling herself, along with Poppy and Narcissa, on the edge. As always, lovey, bewitching work (see the next chapter is in the queue *happy dance*)!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Draco has made his own decision - but to what end? And poor Minerva - she's going to spit nails very soon if those around her, even as well-meaning as they all are, don't just shut the bloody hell up !!!
Oh, 'how do I love thee, let me count the ways' - but there's not room enough - Love Mab,a dn with all the others, there is the true dynamic, determined healing energy whirling about Neirin. I must confess that his outbursts and struggling, painful utters truly struck home. I know someone and was with them recovering from one of many brain tumour surgeries; the abrupt harsh comments mixed in with mad ones, jumping to moments of heartbreaking 'clear' thoughts & memories, and then eradically raving or going into darkness or pain again, is so very *real*... Love Horace and Minerva, and the change in attitude for the student body - lovely! ove Narcissa Summoning Minerva - but fear for poor Draco...As always, lovely, breath-taking, inspiring wonderful work! Thank you for continuing to embellish our worlds with such creativity & richness & *love*!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
You've made my day with such a detailed and generous review !! I will confess some of Neirin's "wandering" is very real for me as well. I have a loved one in similar circumstances - and writing some of this is my own catharsis. I did feel the only way that Hogwarts will survive is with some shifts in concept and attitude... Minerva is strong enough to draft some critical decisions and make them stick.
Love your Narcissa; her strength, clarity & perception, and of course, her mother's love for Draco and fear of his 'fading away' from her and his fading *life force*... Wonderful progress of Neirin's painful and slow evolvement towards full consciousness and (new) identity - Minerva and Hagrid's ministrations - lovely!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Thank you !! I was never qute happy with the depiction of Narcissa in canon. I felt it took incredible courage to take the risks she did for her child - both by seeking the Vow and then lieing to Riddle. So that was my perspective here - to show the light that was part of Narcissa's nature - and also to allow Minerva that moment to accept the darkness in hers. Acknowledgemnet of self is often the hardest thing we accompoish.
Love the description and details (as always! beautiful, wonderful, inspiring!- thank you!) serene, spirtual surroundings for higher meditation and prayer; the calling of the powers, and injections of description/reference of Neirin's fierce attack on Delyth and everyone's involvement- Wonderful interaction and banter between Minerva and Gareth - I'm sure the staff will indeed be empowered on many levels!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Minerva took quite the chance, telling Gareth so much - but I believe she understood the strength of both worlds, magical and muggle, would be needed here. Thank you, indeed, for being such a kind and loyal supporter of "the tale".
Delyth is divine - definitely has a dubious past, but has returned at a vital turning point-- love her being layered on to help this circle of Healers and faith keepers, so happy that Gareth has a kindred spirit to aid him... Love the dynamics of Neirin's painful struggle into a sliver of consciousness; painfully poignant his flashes of pleading with Voldemort mixed with his spurts of blind, anguished cries of consciousness - love Maftet and the layering on of Egyptian symbolism mixed with Celtic *sighing in bliss* about this, but *sighing in pity* for the angst and torment poor, dearest Severus is experiencing. Wonderful, and wonder-filled, work - thank you!!!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Two cultures with such rich and diverse spiritual traditions - and yet, in some aspects, very similar. I've always had a fascination for both so what fun to bring them together.... a bit daunting though - I sometimes wonder what I've gotten myself into !!
Utterly enchanted with Cliodna - breathtaking details and description with the Fidelius Charm ritual - beautiful, so loving and so indescribably beautiful!Hmm... beseeching eyes of the mother and brandy-soddened endearments of a father - who would 'owe' Severus something deep and dear... a certain privileged, very blond Slytherin who Severus took the Unbreakable Vow for --comes to mind! Will read on very soon- RL beckoning!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
This was a challenge to create and write - it seemed the Fidelius would be considered one of the most honored of all Wizardly vows - so I'm pleased it transported you into another place. I did want the reader to have that sense of sacredness here, a true sense of timeless ritual.
Lovely, heart-touching details! Love the McGonagall witches history! The robes of Minerva, again - remind me of the cloak Faramir gave to Eowyn of his mother's - so Celtic and rich in symbolism appropriate for the goddess Selene.Grinning like the Cheshire Cat about Hagrid's daper appearance - striking indeed! Enjoying Minerva giving Albus a piece of her mind - hope there's more to come of that.Love Gareth's poignant account of what both he and Neirin have been battling - it's slowly turning to the light - lovely, captivating work! Thank you!
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
In my mind, the world all of these characters inhabit would be so deeply steeped in their spiritual and emotional traditions - for gods sake, they live in a world of magick !! And being of the Isles, how can they not be saturated with some of the most ancient and epic aspects of their craft through the Celtic and Pictish traditions - which of course saw their influences of the Greek and Roman - and the Christian as well. Imagine what Joseph Campbell could have done with all the HP books? He could have created an entirely new series of lectures !! And oh, do rest assurred, Minerva has a lot to say as we move forward -- as does Hagrid -- and others....
It was quite telling to see Severus' habitat and exactly what it held.
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
I think we've all experienced some of that - being invited into someone's home and being absolutely amazed at what their choices of personal surroundings reveal about their deeper nature. I imagine almost all of us who read and post on TPP have at least one thing in common with Severus - BOOKS ! LOTS OF 'EM !!!
I loved the original telling of this chapter but this rewrite is far richer than the first. You added her memories of him as a child. I wonder if she would have remembered them during the months she hated him for Albus death. I think it is easy to forget our fondness for people when we are angry with them. Keep up the great work.
Response from moiramountain (Author of In His Name)
Her heart had been broken, not once but twice - she'd lost two people she must have loved dearly - one thru death, and the other thru what she believed was the cruelest of betrayals. And still Severus protected all of them, clouding their perceptions, even hers, so that all would see only what he needed them to see. Jk may not have written their story as well as we would have liked, but boy, did she ever lay some great groundwork for the rest of us to build on !! I'm so happy my humble efforts have pleased you.
