He! He! Great little story/one-shot. I assume that the reference to Richard/Dick is a play on the sexual connotatatiopns of the word and the traditional (English) Muggle habit of shortening words using rhyming slang: Richard to Rick to Dick. The change in the name was first noted in the Middle Ages. Taken from the German element 'ric' (ruler, leader, king) and 'hard' (strong, brave) - 'powerful ruler.' It also plays on the Hermione/Shakespeare connection nicely. Then again...Oops! Ginny must be the mother? Hmmm...or it it another Wealey male and Hermione maybe? Hmmm...Who are the parents?
For Snitchette (and I hope you don't mind norwegianeyes) - Richard the III (2/10/1452 - 22/8/1485)was an English King immortalised by Shakespeare in a play/tragedy/History (Richard the Third). Unfortunately he was a rather unsavoury type (Richard that is) - My recollection is that he was believed to killed his brother (Henry IV) and ruled as Lord Protector over the two young princes as the dead king's eldest son Henry V was too young to rule outright ~13 & 10). He then declared The marriage of Henry IV and his wife invalid and the Princes illegitimate and locked the young princes in the Tower (prison and palace in one) and they were never seen ever again. After this he could rule outright (crowned 1483). This then caused him to be denounced and he faced rebellions from all over the country and was finally killed in battle in 1485. This brought the War of the Roses to an end as he was the last of the House of York/Plantagenet lineage. Some say this was a plot by Richard's enemies to fan rebellion. But he never really went out of his way to clear any misconceptions up.Anyways...great little story!Cheers.
