i really like this. you capture that mixture of excitement bordering on terror so well. the way you describe the desire mixed with the fear and the hesitation. brilliant! and i loved this: "It is the increased heartbeat he has when he thinks of taking a bite of the forbidden fruit and liking it too much for his own good." i think i may have been there once or twice myself. ; )

This story makes me ache to think what Remus must have felt upon hearing that Sirius broke the secret of James and Lily to Voldemort. To have felt so achingly alone beforehand, to slowly and painfully recover again, and then seemingly be crushed by betrayal.
