During the war of Voldemort’s first rising, Emmeline Vance suffered the losses of friends and family. Nevertheless, as they say, time heals all wounds. It can also bring happiness. And so it was for Emmeline that during the time between Voldemort's disappearance and his return, she found some romance during this brief period of peace.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan

Oh, what a lovely, sad little tale. I love it when authors take little-known characters and blend them so believably into Canon.

I really liked that you picked two little-known or discussed characters to focus on in this beautiful story. Well done!

What a wonderful story. You really made Emma into a tangible person. You did a wonderful job with both of them.

Thank you very much. That was my goal, to give her dimension and yet keep true to canon. I appreciate the comment very much, thank you.

Good work on these minor canon characters and giving them a life

I can't say that I've ever read an Emmeline Vance story and certainly not an Arkie Alderton one but I do have to say that I enjoyed this one very much. You've made me want to believe in the characters and I found myself eagerly following their romance and the backstory of the return of Voldy...grrrr. The ending, though, was just tragic. sniff sniff The description of her grave was so touching, especially with the large tear rolling down his face. All in all, a great story and I'm glad I found it!!!

I'm sorry I mad you sniffle! I really liked this prompt and wanted to write a story with characters I haven't seen used in fandom. So I picked Emmeline becasue I thought I could found Arkie while digging for a match. I'm so glad that you found and gave this sad little story a go. I appreciate the very nice compliments. Unfortunately, Emmeline does die in canon, but I tried to give her death grace, diginity and purpose. Thanks for the review.

Lovely use of a character that I had completely forgoten about. I really like Emmeline in this, too.

I really like this! I love stories that really add something new to what we already know from canon. You've taken a minor character and a mentioned person and made a real story out of them. Excellent!

Thank you. Yep, that's what I did. The only thing I'm not sure about is their canon ages, but what the heck. I wanted to choose characters that would be recognized but not uesed before. Thanks for the compliment.

What a sweet little one-shot! I love stories that feature characters we don't see often in fanfic or that we just don't know much about at all. This was really cute, though, of course, sad at the end.I liked some of the lines in this very much -- I laughed and blushed for Emmeline when she said, "I rub it down well and stroke it firmly each night." Haha! Poor Emmeline! Thank you for the refreshing story!

Thank you. Occasionally it's fun to take one of the background character out of the box and examine them, wonder what they were like. The sad part is to be true to canon, I did have to show her death. I tried to do this as postively as I could through Arkie. The line you quoted I could almost hear her repeating Arkie's directions at him while staring at him. Gads, I've had those moments too! You feel like such a dork. Thank you for the nice review. i'm glad you liked my stroy.

Excellent job! I love how you added in the other characters as well, showing us the Weasley boys when they were little. The main characters were so believable, sitting and talking about the current events over tea in the morning...this was very well done!

This was bloody brilliant and a wonderful take on that prompt. Very nicely done.

Thanks. That's sweet of you to say. It was a cute prompt idea, and I really liked the opportunity to write about a character who's almost never used in fanfic.
