this is lovely. young!severus breaks my heart, and this piece was kind of hopeful and heartbreaking all at once. at least in this moment he is triumphant.

I love the intensity and seriousness of the moment.
This is sad and happy and triumphant and horrible all at once. Happy and triumphant for getting Severus out of a house with a drunk father. Sad that he will often be miserable at Hogwarts. Horrible to leave Eileen without a wand; perhaps she'll need it to defend herself agaisnt her husband. This is a wonderful piece. Thank you for sharing it. You've packed so much into such a small tale.

That was gorgeous and moving, and in so few words. It left me teary to think of Severus so young and innocent.
