To all my devoted readers and reviewers just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about my little tale that has been neglected over the past few years. As stated in my previous update, real life got in the way, but I feel ready to write again.

When is he going to learn that obliviating her memories is not going to erase the love in her heart. She will always come for him and her oblivation makes the situation even more dangerous for her because she will act on her heart and not out of logic. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon cry.

Very interesting. Severus obviously has a lot of his own issues to work out. Looking forward to seeing what happens with Umbridge. Thanks for the great story.

It is both sweet and heartbreaking that Severus must keep his fond memories of Hermione in his Pensieve. He must do all he can to protect her.I thought it was especially telling that he destroyed his keepsakes of Lily, but it was necessary. He is in love with Hermione, and it would seem disingenuous to our honorable Severus to have done otherwise.His life is such a mass of contradictory feelings. He loves Hermione, he even told her so, then he had to obliviate her so that she wouldn't recall his words or his tears as he knelt before her—her protection his first concern.... Umbridge is coming.What will become of the Potions Master and the Lioness of Gryffindor? Surely there is solace to be found for them somewhere.I like this story of yours very much and can't wait to read the next update. Well done!!!Beth

Hey Livvy, Severus does not deal with emotions well, and he feels that he is protecting Hermione from himself. As to why he Obliviated her, that will be explained more in chapter 10 when Umbridge makes her apperance. I had planned to have her in chapter nine but she did fit with the chapter arc.

I think Hermoione may have been right about Severus's being a coward he keeps Obliviating her.

Well he only Obliviated her once, but Severus has his own issues that he needs to work out, he feels that he is protecting hermione from himself. Up next Umbridge will finally make an apperance, I promise.

I havent read Crime & Punishment since high school-thanks for the reminder on who Sonia is. I am impressed at the story about how Snape had to skip breakfast and then falsy accused of stealing. It just broke my heart. ~sniffle.

I was raised Catholic, and still have great respect for it. I thought it was a great touch in this story.In general, I was expecting much less from the title than what I've actually read. This is an amazing story, and I'm looking forward to reading more.

, I was a bit nervous introducing religion into this story, afriad it would offend readers or its use be misinterperted/misunderstood. But as I stated in an authors note I've always been told write what you know, so when I hit a wall creatively on how to further develop Snape's character, I introduced the conflict of what it might be like to be a half-blood with morals and an upbringing in both worlds. I'm just glad it translated well. Again thank you for the R&R and stay tuned for Chapter 16.
OK, I have read and reread from chpt. 1 twice, so you know I am lovin' your characters, the plot and the writing. I like like the references to WWII and nazi Germany in the previous chapters and I have a great appreciation for Severus' darker side and his inner conflicts. However I am a little confused as to the relationship between Hermione and Severus. Why does she go to see him two or three times a day? They seem to provoke each other to irritation. What purpose does her visits serve, and in a year and a half hasn't anyone noticed? Not much seems to happen except he has warned her about Umbridge and seen her through an extremely painful episode. Perhaps a little more back story as to how and why they have come together would be helpful. At the moment I don't feel invested in Hermione's plight, maybe because I haven't heard her voice enough. I can't wait for the next update, you have my brain running on overdrive.

Great update. I think the curse is stopping Hermione from seeing what is truly in front of her because she still thinks she can't love. Umbridge needs die very painfull death!

. Umbridge's slow and painful demise seems to be a consensus amongst my readers and reviewers. Perhaps that wish will be fullfilled. Chapter 16 is upnext and will touch upon ways in which the curse can be removed.

Nice chapter, I'm a bit surprised that Severus shoved Hermione but it was a good way to show just how close he was to loosing control.

This was totally awesome! I can't tell you how moved I was at Severus' admission in the last scene:A familiar shadow fell over her. “I shouldn’t have called you a coward.” Severus set her rucksack down by the sill, the sleeve of his teaching robe brushing her denim-clad leg. “You could have struck me, and I would have accepted it gladly. I had no right to lay a hand upon you.” His normally smooth and arousing voice was gone. In its place was a fragile and mournful imitation. He was on his knees before her, his head falling forward to rest in her lap. Her heart constricted: her poor, broken man. “I love you,” he breathed.Pretenses shattered, he cried. This entire chapter was so beautifully written!1000 Points to your House.Beth

The poor guy is doing his best to walk that fine line and take care of Hermione's curse, while trying not to loose his heart over her. Now that she has confessed her feelings, it looks like he has lost his inner battle and his heart has won out over his logic. With Hermione falling apart, I imagine it was the last straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak, for Severus. The guy is an emotional wreck now. I hope there is no one to witness Hermione and Severus's interaction in the Library.
