Hermione is forced to lead a double life when she agrees to Dumbledore's plan to protect Professor Snape. Inspired by the Marriage Law. Warning for student/teacher relationship, though Hermione is of age.

Reviews for Second Life
I love that you've put them back together :) I love that Severus will wake up to her in his arms - even though he may be his snarky self again when it happens ?? Lovely, simply lovely!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad you know me well enough to know that even though they'll wake up together doesn't mean he won't be snarky. :)Thank you so much,

Poor Hermione..I can't help but feel sorry for her and Snape. So what's next for our (can I call them that or are they yours?) lovely couple? Please don't keep us waiting for long. This is an amazing story, as I've said before.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I won't ever keep you waiting that long again, real life. I'm so sorry about it! And as for what's next, I'm not telling! You'll have to wait and see. And of course they're yours. I'm just borrowing them. I don't claim ownership. :)Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I'm glad you're still enjoying it!

Whee! So glad you have posted a new chapter. I had the pleasure of reading the first 38 chapters in one go. Now it kills me to have to wait for more. But glad to hear you plan to post more often now.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so sorry about that dreadful wait. I hope that will never ever happen again. Usually I post faithfully every Tuesday. I can't believe you read 38 chapters in one go, seriously. I wrote the damned thing and I don't think I could do that. I'm very impressed! And thank you for reading and reviewing!

And here I was thinking that once the War was over, all would be hunky-dory and sunshine and roses. You really know how to put us through the ringer, don't you?Exceptional, as usual, m'dear!

! Come on, it's me we're talking about. The angst queen! More ringerdom ahead, I'm afraid, but I'll try to get to the sunshine before too long. Thank you for reading and reviewing! xoxox
Response from pythia_delphi (Reviewer)
Fuck, I think I made a typo- is it ringer or wringer? Perhaps I'm allowed a typo at 3.30am, eh? At any rate, you really are projecting your post-Portus blues onto the poor couple, aren't you? Well, enough already, woman! Haven't they suffered enough? Have you no heart? I want sunshine and roses NOW! *g*

Oh I adore that Arthur was able to be the voice of reason. He is an under utilized character for sure. I felt Snape's dispair, his POV was almost painful. And Hermione's almost catatonic behavior was creepy as well. Another emotional ringer of a chapter toots. Thank good I am on valium or I really would have been crying. Keep up the good work.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
He is the voice of reason, isn't he? I don't write him very often because he's like... God to me. I'm glad you used the word 'catatonia' because that's exactly where I saw her, here. Not that I blame her--after 36 hours without sleep, Gringotts, the final battle, and seeing both her husband and best friend die and be resurrected, I expect she's a little overwhelmed. Thank god for valium! Love you.
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Or its cheap generic version fluxotine. $5/month and I am a happy stable person. Who could ask for more?

"Tonight, she would take what comfort she could, whether it was willingly given or not."
Absolutely beautiful! I love your Hermione and can feel her emotions through your words. Kudos!

I haven't reviewed before this because I simply didn't feel that I had anything to add to what had already been said. But this chapter was so wonderful, I had to comment. The conversation with Ron's dad may become my favorite part of the story. I can't wait to see where the next chapters take this story. This is amazing.MA

I have been checking daily for an update and I am so glad you got a chapter to us finally, I hope the next one will be faster in the making. As always I love the story and can't wait for me.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Again, my heartfelt apologies for the wait on this chapter. Portus was quite an experience, and it took a lot of my writing time from me. I hope that I never, ever make you wait that long again! But I do thank you for sticking with me. The new one will be on schedule! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.

Well, Lariope. First off, welcome back. I'm so glad you updated; I've been trying to be patient knowing that you would have a lot of catching up to do after Portus.Once more, a lovely chapter. I could totally understand Severus feelings of... what? Even he doesn't know. He feels as though he's done nothing because he couldn't make his ultimate heroic sacrifice. His whole world has changed and he doesn't know what to do with it because he can still see some tough times ahead. And then Hermione... to realize that underneath it all Severus expected and almost welcomed death just added to her previous guilt about not saving the potion for Harry, not living up to Severus's trust in her.I loved Arthur, of course. He was a much needed character in this scene because we needed someone to bring all of us back to actual reality instead of the world of Severus and Hermione's emotions, and he did it with such understanding and wisdom.I thought Harry and Ron were great too, Harry especially. After seeing Snape's memories in the Pensieve, he seems totally accepting of the situation between Severus and Hermione. Severus's love was something he could not deny after seeing that, and Hermione's love for that unknown person had been clear to him since before Ron's return. There were so many things to love about this chapter! I'm eagerly looking forward to the next. Happy writing!

Hi! Thank you for the welcome home. I missed you guys while I was gone as much as I now miss my new Portus friends. Generally, just a whole lot of missing going on. And thank you for waiting so patiently. I hope that I never, ever go that long again. It almost hurt. I'm so glad that you liked Mr Weasley. He is such a rock, so honest and solid. I love him very much. And I'm very glad that you were able to accept a Harry who doesn't freak out, who maybe doesn't understand everything, but trusts Hermione (and Snape's memories) enough to believe. More very soon! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

God bless Arthur Weasley for being kind and understanding when so many other people won't. Dare we hope that Severus and Hermione will reach an immediate understanding that together is the best of all places to be when facing whatever comes next?Nah. He's too stubborn and determined to punish himself. Hermione's too stubborn and determined to save him. However they react, I'm betting you're going to do it really well!Any hope that you're coming to Terminus?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
God Bless Arthur Weasley, indeed. I want a bumper sticker that says that. Oh, you have no idea how much I wish I were going to Terminus! Portus was amazing, and I have massive con-letdown! I hope you have a wonderful time! And bring back pictures!Thank you for your faith in Severus and Hermione. I'm not saying anything about what will happen, but I hope you will find it honest.xoxox

Oh I'm so glad you're back! That was a fantastic chapter. And I agree with Hermione. How dare anyone consider Severus Snape tame! :)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad to be back too. The weirdest part of Portus was spending all this time with people I only know from online... and missing the community at the same time!I'm really glad you liked the chapter, and I'm sorry for the wait. And Severus? Tame? Never. ;)

Wow, very intense, almost heartbreaking. Please sort it all out soon?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Soon is relative, I guess, but given that we're through 41 chapters, and there are probably only 8 or 9 left, I guess it will be soon :)I'm sorry for the heartbreak. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

Gads, I feel like I've been dragged through the wringer, reading this!I doubt things will get much better in the next chapter or three ... but at least for now, they are together. I almost said safe, but one can never be sure!

This was amazing!!! The emotions poured into this chapter, embracing everyone, but especially Snape and Hermione ... I love how you made Harry and Arthur very understanding, and that Hermione whilst speaking with Arthur finally put two and two together and realised that Snape was at Spinner's End, and that it was her turn to go to him.So wonderfully written ... on one hand, I am looking forward to seeing Snape exonerated, and he and Hermione finally able to enjoy their marriage and one another ... but on the other hand, I am dreading the end because this means no more updates on this most wonderful story. Major kudos to you, Lariope.

Thank you so much, lyn f. I'm incredibly touched by your review. It's funny how other people's words can sometimes clarify a particular emotion for me in my own writing. "It was her turn to go to him." That's really beautiful. Thank you for that. It will stay at the top of my mind as I write. I hope that you will like the next chapters. At one a week, we've still got at least 8 weeks to go! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. xoxo

An absolutely beautiful chapter. So thrilled to see an update, and it was more than worth the wait. Your Arthur was perfectly written. I continue to be astonished by this story. Thank you for sharing it.

Thank you so much, and I apologize for the wait. That was too long for everyone, me included!! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

Wonderful chapter. Are we going to see the outcome of the trial or whatever path Severus chooses to take? You could have ended the story, I think, but there's much more to be told.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
No, we'll see the trial and the outcome and everything. It won't be huge--not a twenty chapter section, like the other two were, but at least 8 more, I think. I'm glad that you're willing to keep going!Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

Man, I had to stop reading for a moment there, tears were totally clouding my vision and making a hell of a mess on my keyboard. I wanted to hug Arthur, he's such a decent bloke. God bless him! And poor Sev. Any chance of an update before I go on my jols at the weekend? *pleads*

Lovely, poignant chapter, with some hope in Arthur, Harry, and Ron's support. He knows he needs her on one level, and tries to push her away on another, hopefully the husband will outweigh the martyr.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, Sunny33. That's a fine way of putting it, and an excellent reading of Snape's character as I see him. They'll need all the support they can get, I fear. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
