After the war, Harry Potter is left with no one to save, no one to fight, and one extra wand. Draco Malfoy escapes punishment by leaving the country... or so he thinks. Seven years pass before they see each other again. Draco is no longer the master of his wand and a battle of talent and wills ensues. A story of a wand without a true master, and two men who fight to master each other... and themselves.

Due to the often controversial nature of my fics, I've decided I will no longer be posting here (this not NOT include my WIPs--Princes in Exile and Caged Bird Sings will continue to be updated here. This is regarding only my oneshots and future long fics). You can find all my stories at my Livejournal, under the name literaryspell. None of the fics are, as yet, friendslocked, so you can read at your leisure, and friend me, or not, as you like. :D Be sure to check out my master list, which is the first post on my LJ page. Thank you!
If anyone would prefer to send comments to me personally, or would just like to talk plot or make suggestions, please contact me at literaryspell@live.com. I'm happy to hear from anyone!
Reviews for Princes in Exile
I love the idea of Lucius being amused by this.
Man, if Pansy ever finds out that her house elf played a part in encoouraging whatever this thing between Draco and Harry is, intentional or not, she had better start packing her things.
I'm pleased to see that Harry is able to recognise his trouble with drinking. Hopefully if he spends the majority of time at Malfoy Manor, that won't be an issue. I'm sure his friends mean well, but they sure don't do much to discourage him, do they?
The end had me a little frightened. Even though I know we aren't at the end yet, and it would lose the momentum you have going if Draco died, there was still some momentary nail biting. I hope Draco rethinks his impulsiveness, because it really isn't fair to Harry to be responsible for his wellbeing if he doesn't follow the rules. Even as I say it, it seems an ironic statement as which part of this tale is really fair to either of them? Still, Draco needs to behave *kicks the appropriate author*
I think, ladies, that this is one of the most believable HP stories that I have read to date. It helps that this is one of the few pairings that truly works for me, but still, neither one has done anything that I could say was not plausible for their character. They were thrown together in a way that could have happened, and there is nothing rushed about the relationship that is forming. Things are developing maddeningly, wonderfully slowly and I love it! Keep up the great work gals and get started on your next collaboration*whistles innocently as if not trying to boss you around*
Sigh. Harry and his saving people thing. The round-robin with Ron about torture is funny.
Poor, poor, Draco. His cashmere is ruined. Potter thinks he is weak, not that he cares ;) He has to spend a boring night with Pansy, alone, for no good reason. And then to be kissed by Potter of all people. What a shock that must have been for him. I for one am quite glad that Harry doesn't remember it. If he did, then the subject would probably come up and they would talk about it in a awkward manner and Draco would insist that he didn't want any part of it. It isn't normal for him to feel that way about a boy, especially his childhood nemesis, right? Now, it won't be discussed, and Draco will have the luxury of a bit of time to work out how he really did feel about the kiss. I suspect his feelings will surprise him, but hopefully he won't fight the inevitable.
Do I detect a tiny hint of disappointment in Draco because Harry doesn't remember their kiss. Of course he may just lean into him and remind him... *evil grin*
Things are certainly starting to move along now. I really like the power play that is occuring between them, and the tension is beginning to build nicely. But they've also had some moments of civility, and as much as it pains them both, I think they are truly trying. Harry, because it is the right thing to do, and so he can get the Hell out of there. Draco, because he really has no choice if he wants to learn this stuff. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming fireworks, good or bad.
It's nice to see the animosity between them dissipating.
*smirk* already having naughty thoughts after, what, a day with Draco? The next lessons promise to be interesting...
Draco has mellowed somewhat. Hopefully. if Harry can continue to stay calm, things will start looking up. :)
All that lovely UST.
Hmm, two wizards comfortable with one and the same wand are... soul mates, very compatible, or forever doomed? How nice that Lucius hasn't changed one jota. Wouldn't that have been such a shame?!Did you mix timing though? Lucius left right after breakfast to go directly to the Ministry... but he arrived at the end of Harry's day shift... no transportation can be that slow.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Princes in Exile)
LOL Yes, that would be a plot flaw on my part. Sorry about that! Thanks for pointing it out.
I can't for the beginning of the lessons. I'm sure Draco will love to be under Harry... of course it will need a bit of getting ued to first *naughty grin*
Draco appears to still be overly manipulated by his father. Organising for Harry, Draco and a house-elf to stay at the manor together has got to be asking for trouble.
I love how Lucius is pushing the two of them together. He seems so amused by it, you'd almost think he had an ulterior motive. And Draco is so... Draco. I have moments where I feel sorry for him, but then he reverts back to his Dracoish self. I was quite amused by this:
He was almost jealous of other people: he couldn't have sex with himself, after all, and even he wished he could after he saw his own bum in a tight-fitting pair of denims, it was that spectacular.
The war of wills has just begun indeed, and I am definitely looking forward to it!
Doing wandless magic together. This is going to get interesting.
So, Draco's wand won't work for him and Harry is drunk in charge of a wand. One of them is bound to get hurt.
Seven years without magic. Don't tell me Draco can't do it any more.
He's working so hard to maintain his facade. All he has left is his pride. Isn't that the Malfoy way.
Does the Aurors' handbook not advise against tormenting unarmed, muggle-clothed, rabid ferrets?
Is Draco ever going to get over his stupid pride?
The misery of living in New York with no magic and no decent tea.
What an interesting start. I love that bitchy wand & can't wait to find out what its real owner is doing
Hahaha. Draco was snookered by his own dad! :)
hmmm things are getting more interesting...Why does Harry have to drink so much? Can't wizard become alcoholics too?
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Princes in Exile)
Oh, wizards are definitely susceptible to alcoholism! And yes, Harry does drink a lot. *nods*
I'm afraid Harry is becoming an alcoholic if he is ingesting all the Firewhiskeys he's saying. But he may be right about Draco needing to talk to someone.
Response from LiteraryBeauty (Author of Princes in Exile)
Harry does drink a lot, doesn't he? *grin* And yes, Draco definitely needs help--one way or another.
