That was beautiful and very sad.  You are an angel.  These animals often can't find homes because of their disease and wind up dying alone and unloved.  You give them at least a few months, weeks or even days knowing they were loved.

Even though I've never lost a pet to illness, I imagine the deep and rending pain I felt of losing them to the road is much like what you (and Hermione in this tale) felt.

It's not often that a story can do it, but this one had tears in my eyes. Such a sad, bittersweet tale. One girl and her cat/Kneazle.

Now I need to go and find my cat again...

However sad, this was a beautiful story! I love cats, and I have several my self. Though I have never lost any to the same illness as Crooks had, I can so identify the sorrow, helplessness and pain you had Hermione go through. It was beautifully written!!!!
