31 October 1981. Instead of going to Azkaban, Sirius Black goes on the run, determined to catch the traitorous Peter Pettigrew even as post-war violence tears through the wizarding world. Meanwhile, Remus Lupin and a handful of others work desparately to clear Sirius' name, and to find him.
After all, they are not the only ones seeking Sirius Black. The Ministry of Magic has set the Dementors on his trail, and they have been given permission to administer the Kiss the instant he is caught. The remnants of the Death Eaters are pursuing him as well, in hopes that he will lead them to Pettigrew -- whom they blame for Voldemort?s defeat.

I never know what to put for these things...
I'm in my late twenties (as well as in denial about my impending thirties). I live and work in the middle of a city, and am of the firm opinion that life isn't quite as interesting anywhere else. I'm a political consultant, which can be sort of catch-all title. In my case, it means a combination of planning campaign strategies, doing the odd bit of damage control, and writing speeches and public statements. It's interesting work and I enjoy it a great deal. I also do some writing on my own, and hope someday to be a published novelist.
I've been reading fanfic since 1998, though I just started posting my own fic a year ago. My first fandom was the X-Files; my first ship, Mulder/Krycek. The list has since expanded to include Highlander, Buffy, Harry Potter, Good Omens, and many, many others. I will read almost anything provided that it is well-written and interesting. (This applies to books as well, and I'm almost always about halfway through three or four of them.)
This week, I'm listening to... The Clash -- London Calling
...and I'm reading: Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, by William L. Shirer; Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain (I'm on The Castle of Llyr) and The Queen's Gambit, by Walter Tevis. I highly recommend all of these.

*cannot catch breath* WOW! What a first chapter!
I've always loved the idea of changing into the Animagis form while running... it's looks spectacular in my mind!
Oh... this is all just lovely.
I suppose that's a strange thing to say, as it's horrible stuff happening... but it's just beautifully done. The memories of James, the way they sort of sneak up on him... and Phineas, working so hard to look like a heartless Slytherin. I always liked him. Remus, too, is lovely, with his wolfishness simmering under the surface and his absolute horror that Harry is not there.
And I do like Moody being so human. You rarely see that in fic.

Thank you very much. I also liked Phineas a great deal, especially when, at the end of OoTP, he was so shocked by Sirius' death, and went looking for him through the portraits at Grimmauld Place. (sniff, sniff)
I'm especially glad to hear good things about Remus. He's been written so frequently that he is now difficult to write, if that makes any sort of sense.
At any rate, thanks so much for the review!
I like the interaction wiht Phineas and mOody... good work

Thank you! More is in progress -- I'm actually working on chapter twelve right this very minute.
Another wonderful chapter. Lucius was perfect in this one. I can completely see him giving up Bella and Rudy in order to save himself and his family. And I love how Kingsley was skeptical. LOL
Oh, man, what happened in the Ministry, while it didn't really happen that way, I can totally see it transpiring. After all, in canon, they did give Aurors the authority to use Unforgiveables, why not use the Dementors. Makes me wonder if there is some deeper plot within the Ministry. Wonder if Lucius had anything to do with it to ensure that he would not have to endure her wrath in the future? If he really is trying to find a way to ensure the DE movement is over? Okay, you probably aren't addressing it, but I love to let my mind wander. LOL
I look forward to the next installment and see if Moody and Remus can get any closer to clearing Sirius' name.
This has been a wonderfully entertaining story. You have painted and incredibly believable series of events for what would have happened if Sirius hadn't been captured. All the characters you are using are very well developed and I like how you tie in bits of canon to add to the realism. I have to say, again, that Phineas is my favorite character. How funny is that? LOL
I look forward to seeing the next chapter.
OOOO!!!! Finally the two of them have gotten together! Yay!!!!!!!
