Reviews for The Charon
I like the fact that his concerns are for both young men - the one he's sworn by honor to protect and the one from his own house who is, like himself, a product of fate, choices, and the circumstance of birth. Well done !!
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
I think we learned, ultimately, that he became a man of honor. So he was bound by his obligations to both, yes.Thank you, my friend!
This is so neat!
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
I'm glad you were liking it! I'm in the process of completing the series; all the remaining drabbles should be up by the end of this week.Thank you!
Does that mean he has to go back? I'd love for him to.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
So would I, but that's not an option in this story.Thank you!
Can someone still pull him out of the queue or is it already too late?
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Too late, I'm afraid. (As you can see, I'm answering these in reverse order.)Thank you!
I hope he'll be granted heaven. He so much deserves it.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
I agree completely. *hugsThank you!
what an intriguing start. i await the next installment with pleasure. thanks
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
As you can see, I responded to reviews in reverse order. Thank you for staying with the story and for all your kind comments.
This is so sombre and painful, and yet he is without pain, it seems. After his life and then death, that must be a relief.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Thank you, Mia. Yes, in the beginning, the absence of pain must have been a staggering relief.*hugs
The way you say so much in so few words has me in utter awe.Yes, maybe it is your best. But it doesn't have to mean disappointment over anything else you've written (and hopefully post here!)! I, for one, love I'll Never Take Advantage today as much as I did when I first read it.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Thank you, my friend, for your kind words about TWO of my stories. *hugsBonus!
A somber scene you've set.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Yes, but it should be, shouldn't it? Thanks, Deb!
Very much like its subject, sparse and elegant.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Thank you! *hugs
Where are the fallen Death Eaters? Do they queue elsewhere? You know, like when you arrive at an International airport. Locals one queue, foreigners the other! :)
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
You'll see in different drabbles that there are indeed different queues. And Severus does meet the fallen from both sides of the battle.Thank you, Sunny! (I'm sorry for the delay in responding and in updating, but I'm back on track now; the series should finish posting by the end of the week.)*hugs
great start, but you have now left me thirsting for more.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
I've resumed updating the series; it should be completed by the end of the week.Thank you for your kind review!
This is so beautiful, and yet makes me so sad. I really don't want any of them to be dead. And, erm, you let him die. I do have issues with this, you know. And still--it's so beautiful. You do this so well.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
I'm glad you think that I've done a good job of ripping your heart out and stomping it into the mud.I do take pride in my work, you know.In all seriousness, it thrills me that you like my writing, even when you loathe the content.*smooches
Anne !!!! How wonderful to see you here !!! Most beautiful start - I'll be watching for much more !!! Moira
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
It's nice to be here! This is a small series - complete in ten drabbles - but I think it's among my best writing. More soon! Thanks!Annie
Nice one, Annie. :)
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
I'm glad you like it, Sunny! More, soon. Thanks!
I'm glad he sees people he knew. Sad that he's died.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Yes; this is one of my few canon compliant stories (including the epilogue). Thanks for reviewing!
I wonder what Severus would see if he could look at himself as he waits? I like to think he would look "untainted" as well... Beautiful start here, and I look forward to reading more!
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
I think he would be... my "theory" in this piece is that people revert to their purest selves. That's why the kids don't change much, you know?Thank you for your kind remarks!
Oh, this is such a wonderful story! Glad to see you here! I loved that Lupin seemed younger. I would imagine that would be exactly right. I bet Severus probably appears somewhat younger himself.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Hi, Deb!Yes, I think he probably does appear younger. Unlined.I hope so, anyway.*hugsThank you!
Welcome to TPP! I'm so glad you're posting The Charon first! I got sucked in from the very first word, and that rarely happens these days. I'm in awe of your skill.
Response from Annie Talbot (Author of The Charon)
Thank you for your kind welcome and review! This may be the best thing I've written to date, which means that, after this, everyone will be disappointed. Oh, well!*hugsAnnie
Magical! I absolutely love this story. It really makes the reader think.
I like this. Your fics (at least the last two I've read) have an interesting finality to them, a sense that what is happening should be happening, and that all will be well. One would think that becoming the rowman would be onerous, but you make it sound... peaceful. Though I hardly believe in Greek mythology, I think I would like to. The afterlife sounds like a comforting place to be, and much more interesting than the traditional Heaven.
No Hermione but home and safe and happy so
Harry and Draco are home, the only one not mentioned is Hermione.
So he is waiting for Harry and Draco, I hope they are not too long.
I don't blame him for envying Lucius, Severus deserved such a life too.
