I have often thought that with Polyjuice and other means there must be some people hidden or lost, who can never come back. This brought tears to my eyes and I am ever so cynical normally.

Hmm I've seen this theory before, and it's an interesting one simply because I don't think cannon ever delt with Snape's family. I kind of feel sorry for her though, maybe after the war peace can be found.

Nice story.One mistake though, in book 5 it says that Snape has been teaching 14 years so at this moment it could never be 17 years. The man already was a very young teacher when he started, your timeline would have him teaching almost out of school himself, no time to become a master in any field.And indeed, bittersweet story that this is, it has no bushy haired favorite character of mine, thus should not be up on potions under duress.But again, very nice story.

Hmm, I double checked on the Harry-Potter Lexicon and it said he'd been Potions Master from 1980 to 1996... and then another year as DADA teacher. Lexicon is considered a reliable sourse, but I'll try checking elsewhere. Also, completion of NEWTs would qualify him to be a potions master. 'Master' in the British system being synonymous with 'teacher'. Also according to the Lexicon, he finished his NEWTs in the summer of 76. I've changed the category... I should have double-checked the category meanings, and had been thinking that 'Potions Under Dures' was the Snape category. It's now in 'Hogwarts Castle' where it belongs.

Thanks! As for origonality, it's one of those theories that's been kicking around for a while and that I've read about in multiple places... this is just a fictioalised snippet of one possibility of the theory is true. :-)

Very interesting take. I like stories about minor characters--it's novel. But, how is this a "potions under duress" story--they are suppossed to be SS/HG.
