Reviews for Draco's Heart
Those are high-stakes decisions to make at such a young age, but somehow I think Draco will make good choices and live to be glad of them.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Draco's Heart)
That's that time of life for them, isn't it?Thanks for review!
It's nice to see that he's taking a chance at some happiness for himself. The martyrdom he figured he deserved would have gotten very old.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Draco's Heart)
Yeah, Draco wouldn't do too well being a martyr!
Good for Draco, finding a way to be a new person after the war! Good for Ginny, offering him a pathway to his new life.

Thanks! Glad you like it!
Yay, an update!!I have to admit that I find myself in Ginny's shoes sometimes and I keep waiting on Draco to turn nasty or something. I know he won't, but after the things he's said and done, it's like some odd dream where he's now a bad guy turned good. haha.I'm glad he had the little talk with Pat about what happened, both during the battle and what choices he was given. Maybe that will go a little way towards helping others see he did make a choice to do what was right instead of simply following blindly. Thanks for the update!

Thanks for the review!I'm sure it's not easy for Draco, either, when people he has come to care about, like Ginny, are still half-waiting for him to revert to his old way of behaving.Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Not sure when the next one will go up -- I am soooo ready for my vacation! -- but I'll likely post it while I'm away. Thanks again! And don't forget: Monday is Minerva's birthday!
an update! and so soon too! I'm happy! yay. I like this chapter very much, it's very good that Draco wants to make a future for himself, shows that he has grown alot. I loved it that he said that Ginny will keep him on the right path, it implies so much for their mutual future! I can't wait to read about their weekend, it's bound to be fun.Sam
Response from MMADfan (Author of Draco's Heart)
Hi, Sam! Glad you enjoyed the chapter!Yes, Draco's still an ambitious Slytherin, but now he's seeing that there will be some hard work involved in achieving what he wants, and he's willing to put it in.Thanks for the review!
love the detail of the ginny & draco's village trip!! overall still love the storyline!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Draco's Heart)
Thanks! That was fun to write. :-)
I can't say how much I enjoy your writing, even with characters I dislike. I honestly didn't intend to character-bash at all, but after rereading, it seems that I just couldn't distance myself from the puke-ability of Malfoy-Newman and Ginny since I honestly can't stand Draco Malfoy. I also can't stand canon Ginny (but I do like the fanfic the ones with a backbone), so in the end, this pairing was perfect. As far as I am concerned they can spend eternity together, and if the vigilante is Ginny and she decides to burn this Malfoy, well, I'd be equally pleased too.
I might not especially like Malfoy-Newman but I don't think I'd be joining the mob with pitchforks and torches at night. Only morbid curiosity kept me going. While this may seem mean spirited, I hope someone does punch the prat in his nose. Everyone is being too reasonable! I honestly don't get the sentiments behind the letter he wrote to Harry. I think it is my inherent dislike of this character that is blinding me though. If it were somebody else (and I literally had to substitute someone to wrap it around my head) , I'd say they were trying to commiserate with Harry, but it came across to me rubbing it in just a tad. I'll just live with the idea that he was trying to tell Harry that he was going to treat Ginny right - all that other personal junk wasn't necessary, I think.
As for Hobo-Harry, I've spent many a day like that and probably in those same socks! I love that you have his transition as rocky as it is. I think it is a more realistic representation than him joining the Aurors automatically or that line JKR tried to feed us in DH :). I also do like that he's a bit in denial about the whole thing, but I hope he gets over old freckle-face pretty soon.
Ah Ginny, this wasn't exactly break-up by third-party or email - um, letter- but it is very childish of her to depend on someone else to do her dirty work. As far as I am concerned, someone should punch her in the nose too! Okay, maybe not, but it definitely seems cowardly, and that's the nice version of what my brain supplied when I read the chapter, especially after falling in love with Malfoy-Newman. Gee I'm glad I don't live in this universe! I might have two characters with broken noses just because - yikes!
Hermione is another character I can't seem to wrap my brain around. I don't know why, but she comes across as unsatisfied with everything or just bored for some reason. What in the world is she looking for, and does she have the time to do it? That said, I can't imagine her giving up on either studies with Alroy and Gareth.
Not much of Gareth and Snape - not that I expected it to be with a title as Draco's Heart at any rate, and yes, the only reason I read it is for more clues about the vigilante's identity. I figure since Ginny is so sick with love she's probably not it, but I can hope.
I did like the inclusion of little Suzie Sefton! She's a hoot! She reminds me of her great-aunt (or whatever relation the woman who gave Severus the ride is).
Also, I am a bit jealous - I want Dumbledore's playroom. if only for a go at the pinball machine! :) I think the last time I played pinball was 3 years ago, an Elvis Pinball machine at an airport during a long layover in Canada. I might just go find an arcade for old time's sake.
I was also pleased to see plans shaping up for the new common room for the firsties! I think I liked that more than anything else, which means I'm definitely in the wrong story. Anyway, this was a lovely way to enjoy a rainy afternoon.

I have to say, I was laughing out loud during a lot of your review. hee! If anyone had ever suggested to me that I would write a fic centered on Draco ("Newman" or not!), I would have probably "puked" too. But there were some bits of story to be told that wouldn't fit into LVS, and it was fun to explore what Draco might have become if he really had had such a shocking experience with Minerva and then been in Muggle exile for over a year. I think I was probably generous toward him, but I'm the hopeful sort.Part of what I wanted to write was, indeed, "Hobo-Harry," as you call him. We'll see him again in LVS, and we'll see Ron, too. Quite a bit of the story was actually more about some of the other characters who are peripheral to LVS, like Hermione, Arthur, Gareth, and Ron and Luna. There are only a few more chapters of D's Heart left, but the last couple have to wait until LVS is either complete or nearly so, since they would otherwise contain huge spoilers for LVS. Wouldn't want that! I, too, would love a pinball machine! You mentioned enjoying seeing a glimpse of Suzie again -- have you read "The Sorting of Suzie Sefton"? I'm rather fond of that little fic, and I'm 100% certain you'll enjoy it more than you did reading about Draco! It's a completed short story in four chapters.

Oops! Meant to address this comment, too:"Hermione is another character I can't seem to wrap my brain around. I don't know why, but she comes across as unsatisfied with everything or just bored for some reason. What in the world is she looking for, and does she have the time to do it? That said, I can't imagine her giving up on either studies with Alroy and Gareth."She is dissatisfied and restless. She enjoys her studies with Alroy and Gareth, but she feels as though she's missed out on things in life, too. I haven't been able to delve into it much, but she has some "issues" that she will eventually resolve. As Gareth says, too, she's used to being uber-bright and being able to get things quickly, and it's not always that easy now; plus, she feels as though the last couple of years, as satisfying as they were, left her without experiences that she ought to have been able to have, so she's trying to stuff too much into a short time. In a way, she's in a situation a bit like Harry's, but she's more industrious and she deals with her sense of disorientation differently.Ron, too, had to deal with things, and he did it by running around after "blonde bimbos," or whatever it was that Hermione called them in early LVS. He's settling down faster than Harry or Hermione. Maybe because of the whole "teaspoon" thing! (What Hermione said about him in canon.) But he's also matured a lot, so he's okay.Well, that's an over-long answer to your review!(It rained here, too -- and strangely, this afternoon we had a hail storm while the sun was shining.)I think I may just feel my Muse waking up. I think you stirred her from her slumber. We'll see . . .Thanks for the review!

I don't think I've read that one! I stumbled over Johaness and Soifre in "Charming the Scottish Garden." This is definitely one I am curious about. I'm definitely hooked after reading “The man is here to work on the gardens,” Siofre said to Lydia. “We will not be wasting his precious time with your skrechin pipes.” I'll look out for Suzie's story though! Thanks for the tip, and I'm glad you enjoyed your review!

Oh, Charming the Scottish Garden! I do think you'll like that one. (There's a bit that ties in with LVS, as you may have guessed.) It's a differently paced fic from most of my others, though I don't know whether I'm predictable in my pacing and such or not. But I think you may like it. It's kind of a romance, but it's not as intense as some. It just unfolds gently with the rest of the story. And Johannes is quite different, I think, from most of the wizards I write as major characters (Albus, Gareth, Severus, etc.). I hope you enjoy it.
I just adore this chapter!Especially this: “I didn’t want you to become a murderer, and I didn’t believe you had it in you—which is a good thing, Draco, not a weakness—but more than that, we both wanted to see you out of it all."The references back to LVS and DD in this are fun and make me want to go back and re-read them! The pinball machine is, of course, inspired--classic Dumbledore--and I love Snape's comment at the end about accepting the invitation to play. I love the little glimpse of a more relaxed Snape--and we know why he's happier, don't we?

It was satisfying to write the conversation between Draco and Dumbledore. I'm glad that you liked it so well!We certainly do know why he's happier! I need to go back and work on LVS so that we can see more of it. (Having some problems with typing at the moment, so I'm trying out different methods of using the space bar -- hard after more than 30 years of touch-typing to suddenly not be able to type like normal, and without thought! So the next chapter will be a bit slow in coming, for any of the WIPs.)Thanks for the review!

What a gracious letter from Draco. It really shows very nicely how he's changed and matured. Harry could take a leaf from his book!

He has at that -- he's grown up a lot since he was a scared sixth-year with a lot of bravado. Thanks for the review!
